Hi Hi - I have been a contributor to Wikipedia since July 2005(?) and as a registered user since September 28, 2005. My huge babel tower contains a good deal of information about me. Feel free to drop me a note on my talk page. BTW, my username comes from this show. Athf1234 00:33, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Modeling Wikipedia's growth
[edit]
This is a curve-fitting model I ran in
SPSS using data from the past year: DV is number of articles, IV is days since
Wikipedia was first created (english version). The resulting model (explaining>99.9% of the variation) is:
Number of Articles = 23920.1 * e^(.002*days)
So for today (2006-01-16 or 1833 days), the equation results in: 935,159 articles (not too bad - off by a factor of 1.015)
The new year (2007-01-01 or 2183 days):
23920.1 * e^(.002*2183) = 1,883,178 articles
New year 2010 (3279 days) = 16,860,260 articles
Reaching One Million
x=ln((1,000,000/23920.1))/.002=1866.52 days=Sunday, February 19, 2006
One hundred million articles:
100,000,000=23920.1 * e^(.002*x)
4180.584=e^(.002*x)
ln(4180.584)=.002*x
x=ln(4180.584)/.002 = 4169.1 days = Sunday, June 10, 2012
One billion articles:
1,000,000,000=23920.1 * e^(.002*x)
239201.03=e^(.002*x)
ln(239201.03)=.002*x
x=12.385/.002 = 6192.5 days = Sunday, December 24, 2017
One Googol articles
x=(ln(10^100/23920.1))/.002=110088 days = Tuesday, June 10, 2302
