The Space Collaboration of the Week is a collaborative effort to improve Space-related articles, in order to help them reach featured article or good article standards, or simply to expand stubs into fully-fledged articles. Anyone, no matter what their level of knowledge about space, is welcome to lend a hand. This topic is wide-ranging, from articles describing classes of astronomical objects, such as Comet, Asteroid, Globular cluster, or Galaxy, to articles describing astronomical concepts, like the Big Bang, to articles describing individual objects or locations in space, like Saturn, Io, or Valles Marineris on Mars, as well as articles describing the utilisation and exploration of space, such as articles about spacecraft, missions, astronauts and rockets.
Goals
[edit]This Collaboration of the week is designed to improve articles with space-related topics, ideally to at least Good-article status, if not Featured-article status. Important to this effort is the improvement of references used in articles, both making sure statements are cited, and improving quality of citations, from web-based references, to preferably peer-reviewed ones. Secondly, the content of many articles need expanding, often to include more recent results. Finally, the language and grammar of articles can be improved. The collaboration will also give effort to general improvement, such as expanding stubs into articles.
These broad-based goals make collaboration necessary for broad or important topics. Even if an editor is not well-versed in the collaboration of the week's topic, they can still improve the article through copyedits or improving the style, for example.

Nominating articles
[edit]
===[[Article]]===
|
- First, decide if it is necessary for the article to require a collaboration. Minor grammatical errors and other simple tasks can be done by one person. Be bold!
- Any space-related topic is eligible for nomination.
- If there is no collaboration for the current week, just add it.
- Otherwise, list it below, and if no objections are noted, or there is a consensus to add it, then it will be listed as a collaboration. Use the format shown on the right
- Make a comment on the article's talk page about nominating it, and add {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Space/Collaboration/Notice|nomination}} to the top of the talk page.
Candidates for collaboration
[edit]Reason: This article is currently Start class and is lacking in several key aspects, the primary reason for this is lack of involvement from the Wikipedia community.--Pico del Teide (talk) 16:26, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

A stub class article. Since we're currently dealing with extragalactic objects, this would be great. Recommended by ♫Deathgleaner 03:41, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
