Salvador González Marco, aka Voro (born 9 October 1963 in Valencia), is a former Spanish footballer and manager.
During his career, he played mostly for local Valencia CF and Deportivo La Coruña, also coaching the former during two months.
Club career
Voro, a central defender, graduated from hometown Valencia CF's youth academy, going on to represent its B side in his first season. After a loan with CD Tenerife in the second division, he played during eight seasons with the Che's first team (including 37 games with two goals in 1989–90, as the side finished second).
Subsequently, Voro joined Deportivo de La Coruña, being an instrumental part in the rise of Super Depor, during the early-to-mid 90's. Having started 1996–97 with the Galicians, he finished it with CD Logroñés, retiring in the second level in 1999.
On April 21, 2008, after several years working with Valencia as match delegate, Voro became manager of his former team, following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.[1] However, after having guided his side to the 2008 Spanish Cup, he was replaced by Unai Emery for 2008–09, and reinstated in his previous post.
International career
Voro earned nine caps for the Spain national football team from 1993 to 1995, and was part of Spain's squad in the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
His debut came on October 13, 1993, in a decisive 1994 World Cup qualifier against Republic of Ireland in Lansdowne Road, Dublin. Voro played 90 minutes in a 3–1 win.
