RE: RFA

[edit]

Hi Tone, once again, you may like to nominate me for RFA from today onwards. No fixed date though, admin coaching is done for me, hope to hear from you soon. I've listed myself at editor review, do take a look. Regards --Terence Ong 11:34, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

undelete Jed Simon

[edit]

Hello,

I am the creator of the Jed Simon page. When I saw that it was deleted, I left a message on the administrators' talk page, and it was decided by other administrators that it was deleted in error, and was moved to my sandbox. I am new to Wikipedia, and am not sure how to move it back to the Jed Simon page, saw that you had deleted it, and thought I'd ask you. Please let me know if/how it can be done.

Thanks. Simon squared 16:26, 7 June 2006 (UTC)simon_squared[reply]

Hi Tone,

Please go ahead and delete the Cosmo Wilson page. I am new at Wiki and wrote before I read.

Thanks for educating me.

A friend turned me on to the the fact my name was listed in Wikipedia, and I unwittingly added info without reading the "proper" way to do so first. After reading about everything, I don't even feel it's my place to add anything. If it's meant to happen, it will. Kinda cool I am listed in some degree anyway!

Hello, Tone/Archive 4, and thank you for the supportive vote on my recent RfA! With a final vote of 84/1/4, I have now been entrusted with the mop, bucket and keys. I will be slowly acclimating myself to my new tools over the next months, but welcome any and all feedback and suggestions on how I might be able to use them to help the project. Thanks again! My RFA

[edit]
Tone, thank you very much for your support in my recent Request for adminship, it passed with a final tally of (65/3/3) - which I find both amazing and humbling. I wish I had time to thank everyone personally, but I'm afraid all I can offer is this token of my gratitude. I hope to live up to your expectations/hopes. If at any stage you need to contact me, for help or a request or to point out a mistake in my conduct, please make sure to tell me on my talk page. --Fir0002 08:22, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tone, thank you for voting in my RFA which failed eventually at a result of (91/51/8). I do not plan to run for adminship until a later date. Once again, I would like to thank you for having confidence in me of becoming an administrator and co-nominating me. I hope to hear from you soon. Neutral, but completely uninformative. The guy completely ruined a pivotal World Cup soccer game. you can keep it neutral and include that.

Tone

On 9 June, I entered a small article on three local gentlemen that contributed significantly to the aeronautical field; specifically gliders. In fact, Schweizer gliders are world-famous and highly treasured. Their company has since grown to include other products but they will forever be remembered for their gliders.

Imagine my disappointment to find any mention of them stricken from the record; because when you killed the Schweizer_brothers article, Marudubshinki came along a week or so later and killed the four links I had created to point to the original article.

I see the cause for deletion was listed as "BIO". I don't recall entering much text; certainly nothing that would qualify as a biographical sketch for these remarkable gentlemen. If indeed a small paragraph which then links to more information about the brothers and their company qualifies as a "biography" then I imagine the reams of biographical information normally found will find someone wanting to remove Abraham Lincoln and Janez Vajkard Valvasor next!

As you may have guessed, I disagree with your decision to delete this article and welcome the opportunity to discuss it. And, no, I am not associated with the Schweizer family or the company in any way (other than the fact we live in the same county ... I think it is the same county at least).

Thank you kindly. --JimScott 23:57, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jim. I checked my deletion log and realized that this specific deletion was a bit premature. I guess the reason for deletion was that the article was tagged for a speedy deletion by another user who thought that the brothers were not important enough. I reread it now and I find it perfect suitable to stay, however, it needs some rewording. I would prefer having sentences with remarkable or interesting reformulated so that they stick to the WP:NPOV guideline. So for now, I restored the article and put a cleanup tag on it, I think it will do. If you need any help, feel free to contact me (although I can't guarantee you that I will be able to answer soon, but there surely are lots of users who will be happy to help.) And I can restore the rest of the articles if you tell me their titles. Best regards and happy editing. --Tone 09:49, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Tone,

Thanks for your help. I have indeed uploaded the new info, but, you were right, another editor has made a comment, in this case, "An editor has expressed a concern that the subject of the article does not satisfy one of the guidelines for inclusion on Wikipedia on one of the following topics:"

What do I need to do to "cite reliable sources?" There are many articles about my work on the Net, I have many tour programs and other items with my name listed, I have credits on many LP album and CD liner notes, I have credits on several DVD's, but how do I go about "proving" this info on the Cosmo Wilson page? Do I need to send info to a certain editor? I have read Wikipedia's "Citing Sources" page, but I am still not sure how to move forward with this.

Thanking you in advance.

A short Esperanzial update

[edit]

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I've recreated the page, don't kill me. I really don't see what's wrong with it. Sure I'm a fan and all but who else is gonna create pages for things other than enthusiasts? It's not like I went and started going on about them being the best band on the planet or anything, they just didn't have a page yet. Am I supposed to wait until the album's actually out or something? Do you want more sources, more writing in general?

Hi, I would like to express my gratitude for your participation at my recent RfA. The final vote was 68/21/3 and resulted in me becoming an admin!

For those of you who supported my RfA, I highly appreciate your kind words and your trust in me. For those who opposed - many of you expressed valid concerns regarding my activity here; I will make an effort in addressing them as time goes on while at the same time using my admin tools appropriately. So, salamat, gracias, merci, ありがとう, спасибо, धन्यवाद, 多謝, agyamanak unay, شكرًا, cảm ơn, 감사합니다, mahalo, ขอบคุณครับ, go raibh maith agat, dziękuję, ευχαριστώ, Danke, תודה, mulţumesc, გმადლობთ, etc.! Hello Tone/Archive 4, and thank you for your support at my Request for Adminship, which succeeded with an overwhelming final count of (105/2/0). I was very pleased with the outpouring of kind words from the community that has now entrusted me with these tools, from the classroom, the lesson in human psychology and the international resource known as Wikipedia. Please feel free to leave me plenty of requests, monitor my actions (through the admin desk on my userpage) and, if you find yourself in the mood, listen to some of what I do in real life. August Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

September Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!

Re: Username change for sl user

[edit]

Hi. I would be happy to perform the change. But policy requires that I get a confirmation from the user interested himself, made while logged onto to the account whose name is going to be changed. The normal forum for this is WP:CHU, where there's a template set for the requests. However, if it would be difficult for him (as in, maybe he doesn't speak English), I would be satisfied if he posted on my talk page, in the same thread you started. All he'd have to do is post something like "confirm", or even "ok" and sign the request with tildes (again, from the account that is to be renamed). It's basically a security procedure. But if he can speak English well enough, a request at the forum I indicated would be the best way to go. Cheers, Redux 16:43, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. I've gotten Mihael's confirmation and have carried out his request. I've left him a note on his talk page. Cheers, Redux 02:13, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
