Speedy deletion nomination of Raagabox
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Raagabox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. —Theopolisme 11:57, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Abhogi . Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Ugog Nizdast (talk) 18:28, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

[edit]I am not breaking any of the following guidelines for external links. I genuinely believe that the external links I added are of great value to the articles. When someone is learning about a raaga, there is nothing better than listening to music in that raaga. It's like describing a guitar and playing an audio of the instrument to show how the instrument sounds. I disagree that these links are inappropriate and request they be added back. Thank you.
"Wikipedia articles may include links to web pages outside Wikipedia (external links), but they should not normally be used in the body of an article. All external links must conform to certain formatting restrictions. Some acceptable links include those that contain further research that is accurate and on-topic, information that could not be added to the article for reasons such as copyright or amount of detail, or other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article for reasons unrelated to its accuracy."
- I believe the spirit behind the guidelines for usage of External links has to be understood. Also, the exact expectations from the people at large, from any encyclopedia has to be understood. Here are some points to help people understand why external links of this nature are not appropriate.
- ( A ) Point 4 of Important points to remember from WP:EL states
- In the "External links" section, try to avoid separate links to multiple pages in the same website; instead, try to find an appropriate linking page within the site.
- As can be seen by additions you have made, this is clearly violated.
- ( B ) Point 9 of Links normally to be avoided from WP:EL states
- Any search results pages, such as links to individual website searches, search engines, search aggregators, or RSS feeds.
- As can be seen by additions you have made, each and every link is a "Search Results" page.
- ( C ) Point 10 of Links normally to be avoided from WP:EL states
- Social networking sites (such as Myspace and Facebook), chat or discussion forums/groups (such as Yahoo! Groups), Twitter feeds, Usenet newsgroups or e-mail lists.
- As can be seen, your website states clearly The Music Student Network.
- ( D ) Advertising and conflicts of interest from WP:EL states
- It is obvious that a link from Wikipedia to an external site may drive Web traffic to that site. But in line with Wikipedia policies, you should avoid linking to a site that you own, maintain, or represent—even if Wikipedia guidelines seem to imply that it may otherwise be linked.
- As it is your website, there is direct conflict of interest.
- ( E ) Finally point number 1 of Links normally to be avoided from WP:EL states
- Any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a featured article.
- Since there are 1000s (if not millions) of renditions of ragas and alapanas available on the web, NO SINGLE resource can claim to be UNIQUE to be included in a particular raga page. Here, it should be understood that unique resource means extra ordinary resource that is reliable and referenced by a 3rd party review/ article/ published paper, etc. This default expectation of encyclopedic content cannot be bypassed simply because it has not been mentioned in the WP:EL - it is implicit requirement that experts and 3rd parties feel that raagabox is THE standard for learning the raga - which clearly it is NOT. No one has certified this.
- Hope in light of this you will stop promoting your website in Wikipedia articles. Thank you. VasuVR (talk, contribs) 07:53, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks Vasu, I don't agree with some of these sentiments and your comments but I respect your guys' judgment. Take care.

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Apjkalam and sbpadmasri.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Apjkalam and sbpadmasri.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.
Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vladlen Manilov ✉ / 17:14, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Sbssmadhav! I noticed you submitted User:Sbssmadhav/sandbox to Articles for Creation. However, AFC submissions should usually be in the draft namespace. I would move it there myself, but I don't know what an appropriate title would be for the article. Just wanted to let you know. Quid Est Squid (talk) 17:45, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks Quid, new to this, appreciate your help. It appears that Nathan2055 moved it to Draft. Sbssmadhav (talk) 20:39, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. Nathan2055talk - contribs 19:21, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

- Hi @HenryTemplo The sources cited are reliable. Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) is a highly reputed organization in India, there is even a very detailed Wikipage on the organization. All the books my father published through this organization as the Chief Editor are reliable and I have removed many other books that he had published due to lack of reliable sources. I'd appreciate specific links that you believe are NOT reliable, I can address that but saying vaguely that the submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources is of very little help. Thank you. Sbssmadhav (talk) 17:57, 5 June 2022 (UTC)

- I have been referring back to the predecessor to my father [http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/N._S._Ramanuja_Tatacharya[, his page has no reliable references and it has been accepted. I am completely baffled at this point what meeds to be corrected. The Awards? The Book citations? They all have specific links to Government of India websites or TTD Publishing website. Sbssmadhav (talk) 18:19, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- I have read the "reliable sources" wikipedia page and I believe my references are reliable, like I mentioned they are from Government of India and Tirumala.org. If you can give me a clue as to which part of the page is citing unreliable source, e.g. Personal details I can either remove or edit with proper sources. Thank you. Sbssmadhav (talk) 18:21, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, @Sbssmadhav! Yes, you've (largely) addressed the issues raised in the review, but it's important to understand that in order for a source to prove notability, a source needs to be not only reliable, but also independent of the subject and covering the subject in non-trivial detail. Unfortunately, books which are written by the subject would not be considered independent. At present, the draft is largely supported by reliable sources (I think. not an expert on Indian media), so you'd be best addressing the other prose issues of the draft. Regardless, good luck with the draft and have a great day! HenryTemplo (talk) 18:26, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks @HenryTemplo appreciate the feedback. I removed text from the prose that I do not have references for. Everything captured in prose is a fact supported by authentic references. Please let me know what else I can do to have this published, thank you for your help. Sbssmadhav (talk) 14:37, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, @Sbssmadhav, my suggestions at this point would be to consult the Manual of Style (WP:MOS) and ensure the draft follows the guidelines therein. However, I do not feel confident in reviewing this draft, so perhaps you may want to consult the relevant WikiProject (maybe WikiProject India?) and ask if someone there could review, as they may have knowledge about the sources (etc.) that I wouldn't. Have a great day! HenryTemplo (talk) 20:04, 14 July 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Sbraghunathacharya.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. The file File:Sbrraghunathacharya2.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Seemingly uploaded for the now deleted article S. B. Raghunathacharya. Orphan with no apparent encyclopedic value. Appears to be an image of and image so possible copyright issues for the source image.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. mattbr 12:24, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
