Updating and Correcting DeRay Davis Wiki Page

[edit]

Hello again, my apologies for stepping away I am working and toggling between tabs. The "reliable source" that quoted and misspelled his name as Antwan is a bit annoying because they're a "reliable source" and his name has been spelled wrong for years here on wiki. That said, where would I send a screen shot of DeRay's Drivers License to start. He thinks that's odd and wants to make sure that's the way to do it. He thinks their may be a better way than sending a screen shot of his DL. And then as far as his movies and tv shows/series are concerned, that's public record on tv and on his/my imdb page. DeRay asked me to update his wikipedia page with his current movies his one hour showtime special that aired on national tv and is credited on imdb as well as on sale at Target Best Buy Netflix iTunes these are all public and verifiable so he's asking why the information I revised was archived when I (tried maybe failed) to put them in correct html form as well as site imdb pages or wiki as the source? Thank you again for helping us here. Have a lovely day! SylviaHillman (talk) 15:36, 30 October 2015 (UTC)Sylvia V. Hillman[reply]

@SylviaHillman: You're welcome. --Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 15:46, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again! I am learning how to use the cite resources code thanks to you. I will keep coming back with cite resource links. He is very happy to see his name spelled correctly thanks to your help. I added a few more cite resources for his current television project he's working on with John Singleton, Snowfall on FX as well as his two seasons on Empire. Spoiler alert - he didn't make it out of prison in one piece so that he could be in season 3 LOL. Ok have a lovely evening oh yeah and I put a cite source link to his DeRay Davis: Power Play one hour special that aired on Showtime Cable Network. I served as credited Executive Producer and writer on that show so hopefully that's ok. Thanks again and have a lovely evening! SylviaHillman (talk) 04:41, 31 October 2015 (UTC)Sylvia V. Hello there, you're welcome and thank YOU. I am not sure how to include my involvement on the Talk Pages. But will do so as soon as I can figure it out or maybe point me in the correct direction. Have a lovely evening! SylviaHillman (talk) 08:00, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Sylvia V. Hillman[reply]

@SylviaHillman: Sorry for the late reply: I think you just need to make a new section called "Disclosure of conflicts of interest" and include it there. Thanks, --Rubbish computer (Trick: or treat?) 00:57, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning, no worries about a late reply, I have several different gigs going on so I could be replying late as well. So no worries what so ever. So when I create a section call disclosure of conflicts of interest, do I write something like, I've worked with him as a part of his management and production team since 2001 and there in lies the conflict of interest with regard to the information provided being factual or bias? Not sure what just happened but I think I just deleted an entire paragraph of conversation of being transparent but I found the template and I entered it at the top of the article on DeRay Davis, basically the deleted paragraph stated that I am not on payroll with DeRay Davis in transparency I was in the past but as of 2012 no longer I am just a credible source of information who doesn't mind gathering cited resources and what not on his or the general public interests if any since people come to this page to gather information on him and use this wiki page as a source of reliable information I just wanted to help the page be that reliable source of facts. thank you for all your help and training of sorts. Have a lovely November :-) SylviaHillman (talk) 11:36, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Sylvia V. Hillman[reply]

@SylviaHillman: Thanks, you too. However you are connected, it doesn't mean you are biased or an unreliable source of information, it's just so people know. --Rubbish computer (Trick: or treat?) 15:51, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@SylviaHillman: I'm sorry to hear that and you're welcome to stay. It was good that you updated the page but wording such as "rave reviews" would be seen as not neutral: see Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. It's recommended that you request changes on the Talk page rather than directly editing the article, I'm afraid, but you're welcome to stay and help contribute. --Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 15:20, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@BabbaQ: I made over 16,000 redirects. A lot were from implausible typos, and a lot were perfectly valid. Searching through them will be time consuming, while mass deletion will get rid of loads of valid redirects. --Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 17:19, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I can not tell you what to do. But my suggestion would be to leave that task for a while and let other users take care of it if they wish. • So, some of them will be deleted, others will not. I saw you got some harsh criticism, and there were some nasty remarks--that's not pleasant, of course. But even the most negative interpretation of those creations still leaves you a net-positive editor whose work is (this seems clear) appreciated by plenty of people. I hope you get to cheer up, and maybe return when you feel better about things. I know that's not an easy thing to hear now, and I don't have much more to offer--sorry. Thanks for the wiki-love thing on my talkpage. I think your ANI thread is typical behaviour these days to be honest. A new editor acts in good faith (creating redirects) only to get tag teamed by a load of self-backslapping admins who wouldn't know content if it bit them on the arse. Maybe some redirects are little or no value, but until someone points this out (in a civil way), then how are you to know? Carry on editing and ignore these people who are responsible for the drop in editor retention. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 10:59, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Benediction (The Play)

[edit]

Hi. Sorry, but I've declined your speedy request. G6 is basically for housekeeping - removal of leftovers and so on. Lack of notability isn't a criterion at speedy. It's mere significance there. I must admit that the article as it stands doesn't show any, but A7 doesn't apply to plays (or books). The book that this play seems to be based on is published by a reputable publisher, and appears to have reviews in the right places, and I'm slightly surprised that it and its author don't have articles. I've not looked deeply - do you feel like a challenge? Peridon (talk) 17:33, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

PS redirects are only crap when totally unnecessary - like having one for Joe-Fred Bloggs (goldfish eating championship winner 1876) when there is an article about him at Joe-Fred Bloggs. I've created some on the surface unlikely ones - but I could see a point to them (and no-one seems to have either noticed or objected - so far...). Don't call it 'fail' - call it 'learning the hard way'. Wasn't it Edison that said something about having found 10,000 ways of not doing something? Move on, not out. You could start by investigating Kent Haruf... (No, while I am a writer, that's not me. Not my sort of book.) Peridon (talk) 17:43, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Peridon: Okay, I think. --Rubbish computer (Trick: or treat?) 18:02, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just to show even admins get it wrong - there IS an article on Kent Haruf. My apologies... Still, plenty of things to be done. Peridon (talk) 20:41, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Peridon: I don't mean to be blunt, but what on earth are you talking about? I think you're on the wrong user talk. --Rubbish computer (Trick: or treat?) 20:44, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I'm being confusing - I was suggesting a challenge based on the speedy I declined. However, now I've got the spelling right, there is an article on the novelist whose book was the basis for the play. The bit about redirects was based on your comment above. Feel free to bin this if you think it rubbish. On the one hand, I was explaining why I declined, on the other, I was adding a voice to the 'don't retire, you'll regret it' chorus. Peridon (talk) 21:32, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Taxoboxes

[edit]

Thank you for your work creating beetle articles. Please include a taxobox. I've added taxoboxes to Afroeurydemus akaensis and Afroeurydemus armatus. You can copy paste taxoboxes from a higher taxon or related species and change details as appropriate. There are a couple things to keep in mind. Minor ranks above genus (subfamily, suborder, etc.) aren't given in species taxoboxes. Also, the presence or absence of parentheses in a binomial authority is important; make sure you employ parentheses exactly as given in your source. Plantdrew (talk) 21:27, 20 November 2015 (UTC) --Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 12:35, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Plantdrew: Thanks for letting me know. Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 22:12, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Just realized I should maybe clarify the bit about minor ranks (hopefully I won't things more confusing). If you're copy pasting a taxobox from a family article to use in a species article (which may be the best option for the beetles you're working on now as most lack genus articles), ranks between family and order (e.g. suborder) don't need to be included. If you're copy pasting a taxobox from a genus article to use in a species article, ranks between family and genus (e.g. subfamily, tribe) don't need to be included. The basic idea is that the taxobox would get very cluttered if every minor rank in the taxonomic hierarchy is included, so usually only the minor ranks between the level of a particular article and the next higher major rank are given. Genus articles (but not species article) should show subfamily and tribe (if that information is available). Species article should show subgenus if that information is available somewhere. Plantdrew (talk) 22:41, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I added taxoboxes going up to your last batch. Colasposoma macrocnemis and the articles written after it still need them. I'm calling it quits on this for today; I might get to the rest tomorrow if you don't first. Plantdrew (talk) 00:35, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Plantdrew: Thank you. Sorry, I'd better add those: I wasn't sure how to do them or I'd have started already. Thanks, --Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 01:06, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Younes and Soraya Israel Studies requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. I'm just checking in making sure you don't need a new HDD [citation needed]. Lol. @Zppix: Which edit do you mean? --Rubbish computer (Merry Christmas!: ...And a Happy New Year!) 17:11, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Rubbish computer: Any edit, im talking in general Ⓩⓟⓟⓘⓧ (talk) 21:46, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Zppix: Oh, I see what you mean now. I'd say to revert unsourced stuff, which can include adding something unsourced next to an already referenced sentence: this means having to check the source and see if it's there. It can also mean an unsourced nickname for a person or thing, or an unsourced inclusion of someone's nationality, ethnicity or religion, which can occur either through stating it in the article or adding a category: if a category is added, you'll need to skim over the article and see if this is included there. Sometimes users do edits that are completely harmless, but don't help, so these shouldn't be accepted either: for example, unexplainedly shifting the order of something where this makes no difference, or adding spaces that make no difference when the page is viewed. Identifying somebody's children is seen as an invasion of privacy to some extent, as can adding an address or contact information (see WP:Privacy.) Per WP:DOB, the day and month of a person's birth should sometimes be left out, particularly if they are borderline notable anyway. Other well-intentioned, non-constructive edits can include removing dead links-these should either be tagged, or fixed-and adding {{citation needed} to statements in the lead that are verified later in the article. Crucially, if an edit is good faith, explain the reversion in your edit summary. I hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions. --Rubbish computer (Merry Christmas!: ...And a Happy New Year!) 22:30, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your nomination for speedy deletion is inappropriate, since people may search Yuri Drozdov here, Yuri Drozdov can refer to either a former KGB officer or a Russian soccer player, and top Google search results often refer to the former rather than the latter, the disambiguation page is quite useful. So please restore the disambiguation page I created.--RekishiEJ (talk) 03:05, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Horse Dancing: I removed it, which I assume is okay as I added it. I also removed the possible copyright violation tag as this was citing a website that included the deleted article. How to draw attention to awkward-wording edits that may have changed meaning?

[edit]

Hello Rubbish computer, I recently cleaned up a couple instances of wording that was so awkward as to render the sentences completely meaningless (in the articles on The Adventures of Tintin and T-14 Armata). I corrected the sections according to what I understood the author to mean, but I'm not at all sure I got them right. (If you want to find these edits, I made sure to clearly delineate them in my edit summaries, which you can, of course, see on my list of contributions.) How should I draw knowledgeable people's attention to my edits to ensure that the statements they present are truthful? Thanks! Model464 (talk) 04:07, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Model464: I wouldn't say your edits changed the meaning of the wording. I'd avoid doing an edit if you think it may change the meaning without checking the available sources, although I would say these edits are fine. If a sentence is poorly written but you can't tell its original meaning you can add a {{dubious}} tag to the end of it. Thanks, Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 14:05, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello - you sent me a message before Christmas and I wondered if I could ask for some more help. I'm trying to get an article produced / published for a UK tech company Anatwine. They already have a mention on Wikipedia on the German retailer's, <Zalando>, page. And their CEO <Chris Griffin> also has a page as he is the ex-eCommerce Director of <Superdry>. Do you know if / how I can find someone who might be expert to write the article on Anatwine's behalf. I have little to zero idea of how this process works, lol! Thank you! JosephineTimmins (talk) 16:28, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JosephineTimmins, the company appears to be notable so I've written an article at Anatwine. If you edit it, you can use Template:Connected contributor on the talk page to show if you are connected to the article's subject in some way; this is called a conflict of interest. Sorry I didn't reply to this sooner, I haven't been very well for a couple of days. I hope this helps, --Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 13:41, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Could you explain why you deemed the edits non-neutral? 128.192.34.140 (talk) 20:04, 27 January 2016 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.192.34.140 (talk) 19:56, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, user editing from 128.192.34.140, you added some unsourced material and changed the wording in a way which appeared to suggest you were trying to give a more favorable view of the organization. I apologize if this was not the case. Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 21:08, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In reading the introductory section, it occurred to me that it did not mention marriage or marital fidelity at all. In fact, the only reference to that in the article is the "Beliefs" section. Both their name and three of their core beliefs (taking "promise" to refer to marriage at least in some capacity) refer to this purpose, which seems evidence enough to me to deem it part of their purpose, thus my edit. Perhaps adjusting the wording of my edit such as adding an adjectival clarification to "marriage" would provide more NPOV, but I think the current intro paragraph is lacking a description of what seems to me to be central to their purpose. The current description of their purpose sounds as if all they do is evangelism/proselytizing, but I think that's a little misleading. 128.192.34.140 (talk) 21:32, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for clarifying: feel free to readd the content. Cheers, Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 21:49, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

April Daye

[edit]

Is April Daye now ready for copyediting, or not?--DThomsen8 (talk) 13:51, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Dthomsen8: I've done some copyediting on it, and removed the "needs copyediting" tag, as it no longer needs copyediting. Thanks, Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 14:05, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirects Masterbated and Masterbatory. Since you had some involvement with the Masterbated redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Godsy(TALKCONT) 20:50, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Rubbish computer,

I was doing some dab clean-up and ran across John Francis Kane. We usually don't disambiguate by full name so I redirected it to John Kane (disambiguation). I did notice some questionable redirects though, including List of people called John Francis Kane, List of people named John Francis Kane, List of people called John F. Kane, List of people named John F. Kane, List of people named John F Kane, and List of people called John F Kane. I was going to go to RFD, but I remembered you G7'd the redirect last time I nominated a redirect you created so I thought I'd give you the opportunity this time. (rationale: disambiguations are different from lists, so it's misleading). Best, -- Tavix (talk) 23:12, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Tavix, I tagged them all, and thanks Sphilbrick for the fast response. Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 16:44, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
