Information icon Hello, I'm Geniac. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Apoorva Arora, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Geniac (talk) 03:02, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Genaic ,
I have found the source of Apoorva Arora's date of birth. I think it may be a reliable source. I add it. Please check my edit. If you think that I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Purnendu Bhowmik Shuvro (talk) 05:42, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Field hockey at the Summer Olympics, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you would like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Hello, Patient Zero talk,
Well, I want to change the templates of "Team appearances" from "Field hockey at the Summer Olympics" to look like "Comprehensive team results by tournament" from "National team appearances in the FIFA World Cup"

Control copyright icon Hello Purnendu Bhowmik Shuvro! Your additions to Football in South America have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 11:37, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DanCherek,
I have been blocked from editing the article. Would you please tell me how to remove it?
Thank You. Purnendu Bhowmik Shuvro (talk) 15:27, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have already removed the copyright infringement from that article. You don't appear to be actively blocked from editing any pages on this project. Are you seeing a specific message when you try to edit? DanCherek (talk) 15:28, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes,
You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason:
This IP address has been blocked from editing Wikipedia.
The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be used by a peer-to-peer proxy service. Purnendu Bhowmik Shuvro (talk) 15:35, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That means you are trying to edit while you're on a VPN or other open proxy. Those are often blocked, not because of you personally, but because they can be used by a large number of people which can lead to vandalism and/or block evasion by others. Please see Wikipedia:Open proxies for more information. Your options are probably either to disconnect from the VPN, or to request IP block exemption (there's more information about that on that page). DanCherek (talk) 12:54, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Block for editing the article.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited U Mumba, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Surinder Singh. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:06, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, List of Bangladeshi Film Artists, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on List of Bangladeshi Film Artists requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Bangladeshi Film Artists. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 12:00, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Metric units with converters

[edit]

Hello.

You must always use metric units with converters in all Wikipedia articles when units are included, as it is required in Wikipedia. Do NOT only use imperial units in the Wikipedia articles. 96% of the world population use only metric units, including India. The vast majority do not use or know imperial units. In the future always add metric units with converters in Wikipedia articles, including in articles about India.
