Blocked
[edit]This account is blocked for being a WP:SPAM/advertising-only account. Wikipedia is not a platform for promoting books or anything else. Sergecross73 msg me 13:42, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- How is adding relevant published work a cause for blocking? Shocking decision. Punkspider1 (talk) 13:53, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- You are not here to help write an encyclopedia. Your every edit has clearly been motivated by creating exposure for this book and its author. Sergecross73 msg me 14:00, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Yes it also gave exposure to the publication and its author, but it also helps the reader to navigate towards relevant further information if they so wish. On certain Wikipedia articles there is a lack of information regarding places to find reliable published work around the topic. Punkspider1 (talk) 14:02, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Also I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope the block could be removed. I'll restrain from adding "further reading" sections to articles in the future. Punkspider1 (talk) 14:28, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- The problem is that you're only adding one particular work. You gave yourself away when you spammed it on the heavy metal article. Killing Joke isn't even mentioned once in that article, but you thought it made sense to create a "further reading" section specifically for it and it alone? Come on. You need to find a new venue to promote this book/author. Wikipedia isn't a promotional tool. Sergecross73 msg me 15:28, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- You're absolutely right regarding that article. Adding the reference to that article wasn't all that relevant. I hadn't read it through properly and just assumed the band would be discussed there as well. Don't understand how the reference got removed from "post-punk" genre article as the band has been recognised as one of the originators of the genre. Punkspider1 (talk) 20:19, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- It was removed for violating WP:SPAM. It doesn't particularly belong anywhere except for maybe the Killing Joke article. Anyways, you're free to request a second opinion through an WP:UNBLOCK request, but you're going to need a pretty creative explanation as to how this wasn't textbook spamming on Wikipedia. Request reason:
I admit that I made a mistake by adding "further reading" information on an article that it wasn't strongly enough connected to. I apologise for any inconvinience caused. I added Killing Joke biography to "heavy metal" article when it probably was too far fetched. I'm hoping that my block could be removed and I will consider harder before making such edits. I believe the book should still be linked on pages such as "post-punk" music genre as they are universally recognised as one of the originators of the genre. I understand that others might feel differently and it's fine reverting changes, but I feel completele permanent block is too harsh. Punkspider1 (talk) 03:57, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
Decline reason:
This is not a "permanent block" which suggests it could never be removed, it is simply a block without an end date, meaning that you only need to convince an admin to remove it. You'll need to tell us what edits you intend to make now that you know you won't be permitted to edit about this book at this time. If you have a connection to this book or its author that needs to be disclosed as well. 331dot (talk) 10:21, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Request reason:
Would like to appeal the block as I wanted to edit Total Chaos page to include their latest album "Mind Warfare" (2023), which is missing from the page http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Total_Chaos&action=edit§ion=3 Punkspider1 (talk) 2:26 am, 27 January 2024, last Saturday (3 days ago) (UTC−5)

Please describe what edits you'd make unrelated to Total Chao or any wp:conflict of interestThanks, -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 19:35, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

Unblock discussion
[edit]Do you have a WP:RS unconnected to the book you've been peddling? -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 07:54, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Not connected to the book. Punkspider1 (talk) 13:33, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- This is still not enough to consider unblocking. Please describe what other constructive edits you would make. Thanks -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 01:40, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Well that would be the first edit. No point of considering other edits if my account is blocked. Punkspider1 (talk) 06:18, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- No point in unblocking for one edit. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 00:33, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- There are actually two pages ("Total Chaos" and "Nasty Suicide") that I'm waiting to edit at the moment. Punkspider1 (talk) 05:23, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Sergecross73: Unenthusiastic question-- OK to unblock? -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 18:38, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- I'd support it if he commits to stop adding that book link to articles. If you read his comments closely, he technically has not actually done that yet. Sergecross73 msg me 19:24, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- I can commit to not adding new links to the book in question. The mentioned planned updates are in no way related to Killing Joke. Punkspider1 (talk) 13:57, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
