{{helpme}} I am trying to remove the redirect from "drug cartel" to "Illegal Drug Trade." I believe we need a separate page called drug_cartel to reflect and list the various criminal organizations. From that we can link to Illegal Drug Trade. I have tried to do this myself, but it doesn't seem to work properly. I hope I have not screwed things up here. Can anyone help me?Not home 22:12, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're good. Everything worked as far as I can see. (You were referring to Illegal drug trade not Illegal Drug Trade. KTC 22:18, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

KTC, thanks for the rapid fix on the Drug Cartel page. I was surprised how quickly you helped out. Thanks again. Not home 22:29, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Isa Mebarak

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Isa Mebarak, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. WebHamster 23:57, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Nicar-currency-inflated.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Nicar-currency-inflated.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:11, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

runes in aya sofia

[edit]

Hi - could you tell me where on the second floor the runes of halfdan are to be found - I have been four or five times but have not seen them myself. Many thanks. --5telios (talk) 12:52, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

5telios - Thanks for the interest. It's been about three years since I've been there myself so I am a bit foggy on the exact locaiton. Nonetheless, I know that it is located on the second floor; carved into the railing. I found a photo on this website:

http://www.sacred-destinations.com/turkey/hagia-sophia-photos/slides/nave-general-view.htm

The railing is visible on the second floor on the right side of the photo (I believe that is the south side of the building). Good luck. Let me know when you visit. Not home (talk) 22:44, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Kafir pride"/T-shirts: Cites?

[edit]

Howdy. It looks to me like you're the person who added the section/facts "Recent Uses of the Term" to the article Kafir on 7 March 2008: "It has become vogue for recently-returned U.S. military personnel to wear T-shirts displaying the word “kafir” written in Arabic" etc.
If you have any cites for this info, can you add them to the article? Thanks. -- 201.17.36.246 (talk) 17:56, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Fanta-guadeloupe.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Fanta-guadeloupe.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: File:Atashgah fire temple.jpg

[edit]

File:Atashgah fire temple.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Atashgah Fire Temple.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Atashgah Fire Temple.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 18:33, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your picture: Tej.JPG

[edit]

In the article on Mead, your picture of a bottle of Tej (Ethiopian Mead) appears. The bottle itself is very similar to a style I have been trying to locate without success. Do you know anything about the bottle and might you have any information that would help me locate whomever makes it? Nhak (talk) 23:32, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nhak, unfortunately, I do not know anything specific about the flask (called a birille). If I remember correctly, this photo was taken in the Askalech Tej House in Lalibela, Ethiopia. Maybe you could contact them to get more info. Not home (talk) 15:01, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Chisinau-billboard2.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:44, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You for the Wikipedia Picture

[edit]

Hello, My name is Duane Hurst and I recently made a free (non-commercial) English web site to share information with people. I added links to your Wikipedia/Wikimedia freeware picture (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/File:DR-Haiti-border.jpg). I also gave credit to you on my web pages for your work. Thank you for sharing with the public. My website is:

http://www.freeenglishsite.com/

I add pictures such as yours to one of the following major sections of my site: 1. World section - contains information and over 10,000 images of every world country and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/index.htm

2. USA section - contains information and images of every USA state and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/usa/index.htm

3. English section - "Mel and Wes" lessons in conversation format. Stories are located in various USA states and world countries such as China, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Thailand. Each lesson has many slang terms and idioms, which I link to my Slang Dictionary. This eventually will have over 5,000 terms. Currently, it has about 3,000 slang and idioms. I regularly add new lessons and slang terms. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/lessons/index.htm Slang Dictionary link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/slang/Eslang_a.htm

Prior to retirement, I taught English at several private and public universities in the United States.

Please share this free site with your friends. I hope all will enjoy the pictures and find the English information useful. Sincerely,  Duane Hurst in Utah, USA

Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:Al-assad-at-PO.JPG or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The file File:Tgi-fridays-map.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned map.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~ Rob13Talk 17:33, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
