Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! British Bangladeshi

[edit]

Hi, I have reverted what you added to British Bangladeshi, but you can restore it if you cite it. You also need to try an avoid voicing opinions when reporting on facts. Some of what you added appeared to be offering an opinion. e.g.;

  • "it turned horribly wrong due to the mismanagement of the circumstance and emotions by the Police" - is this a fact, or an opinion? Who thinks this?
  • "to demonstrate that the Bangladeshi young people were capable of protesting without disturbance and violence" - is this a fact, or an opinion? Whose opinion?
  • "a total of 91 Bangladeshi councillors paved the way for the success of three MPs to date" - who says they paved the way. Have the MPs been a success? In whose opinion?

It would also be good if the article could explain why local events in Tower Hamlets are significant to British Bangladeshis as a whole.

Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:16, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the third one, it is worth mentioning that Wikipedia requires a boring and dry style of writing. What you (Mayarakash) wrote ("paved the way") was actually good writing, but not good for Wikipedia. What might have been meant was that 91 Bangladeshi councillors were elected over a particular timescale, and then later 3 MPs were also elected (if that's accurate). That is a more dry and boring statement of fact, without implying any opinion. Also easier to cite. MPS1992 (talk) 19:10, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
