The Minor Barnstar

An article you recently created, Consulate General of the United States, Amsterdam, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. ... discospinster talk 20:33, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

Thank you very much for this. I didn't know that you could make a draft page. Thank you both for showing me this feature and keeping Wikipedia high quality! MSG17 (talk) 20:52, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Maps added to Japanese expressway articles

Hello, first of all, thank you for adding the maps to many of the expressway articles in Japan. Unfortunately many of these aren't generating a map when the article opened. I noticed it worked at one of your earlier edits see:Nihonkai-Tōhoku Expressway but not at some later ones:Ken-Ō Expressway. ∻ℳcCunicanℴ 00:24, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for noticing, and sorry for the issues. I think that some of the maps are not showing because the Wikidata item hasn't been connected to an OpenStreetMap relation yet, do I am putting in some effort to remedy that. However, the Ken-Ō Expressway is a strange case. It wasn't assigned to the right highway system, but even after I assigned it yo the correct one it still does not show up, which is strange. Maybe the Wikidata links (just like OSM) take their time for the template I am using? I am not sure. MSG17 (talk) 01:15, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
I've seen this issue before. It's kinda like when you update an image or gif image, it takes quite a while for the cache to be purged. Cards84664 (talk) 02:23, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
Good news! I found out what the issue was - it was that the length parameter of the template I used (Template:Highway system OSM map) would cause the map not to show up if it was set. I think the issue might have to do with either missing or multiple data entries with each expressway. I'll see if I can change the template so that it doesn't break in this way and so I don't have to edit each page for length to be set to nothing. MSG17 (talk) 15:39, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
WikiProject Japan Barnsensu Award
Thank you for your work to add those maps, here's a barnstar for your efforts. ∻ℳcCunicanℴ 06:59, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
Thank you very much! MSG17 (talk) 12:07, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

I think this is a related issue so I'll add it here: I noticed your edits for php7 [2] and I've been looking at a bug with php7 use and this template [3], in particular on the page Dōtō Expressway. I've tried to run the wikidata query by hand, to see what output it produces, and it seeeeems to produce a list of entries rather than just the one for the Dōtō Expressway. [4] I've gotten the values Q5228578 and Q867944 by adding {{wikidata|property|raw|P16}} and {{wikidata|label|raw}} to the top of the article and previewing it; would you be willing to double check? Shouldn't we be expecting one entry with the length (if known) and that's it? Maybe your WDQS-fu is better than mine, would you be willing to look at it? -- ArielGlenn (talk) 18:56, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Don't worry, its working correctly. The template displays all highways in the system in green, except (if applicable) the highway that the page is about which is shown in red. So, the query will return all highways in the system. MSG17 (talk) 19:13, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Map on Chūbu-Jūkan Expressway

Hello again! Thanks for adding the map to the article Chūbu-Jūkan Expressway. Is there a way you could include the entire route in the map? Currently the map only displays the section that is around 15km long between Takayama IC and the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway. There are three other sections that are not displayed in the map's current iteration. ∻ℳcCunicano 03:10, 20 February 2019 (UTC)

Yes, I would have to look at OpenStreetMap and assign the right relation(s) to the Wikidata ID. It'll take a while to update, but then it will show up correctly. MSG17 (talk) 03:35, 20 February 2019 (UTC)

Is something wrong with this template? I only get broken images, and right-clicking them I see things like

{"type":"http://medi.wiki.org/wiki/HyperSwitch/errors/unknown_error","method":"get","uri":"/en.wiki.x.io/v1/page/graph/png/Template%3AGraph%3AMap/0/ad78f2adc70e94e9c879414ad3aafd9c2407ec77.png"}

The corresponding template on the German Wikipedia seems to work. Do you have an idea what might be going on? —Kusma (t·c) 20:29, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Yes, unfornuately it does seem that something is wrong, but I am not sure what. Reverting it back the the less simple no Lua version did't work. It might have something to do with PHP7 or another thing, so I will check. MSG17 (talk) 20:32, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
MSG17, good, thank you. If you can't find anything, probably best to ask at WP:VPT (I don't understand these templates well enough to make anything like a useful bug report so I wanted to check with you instead). —Kusma (t·c) 20:51, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Hello, MSG17. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Nippon Expressway Company".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Mahesh Babu Filmography

Why do you keep removing the production and voiceovers and merging them into the filmography. Merging them will make it confusing for the reader so please do not change them. That is why I reverted your edits. GODUBNATION (talk) 15:57, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

What is this? Once again you reverted my edits. I understand your concerns, but that doesn't mean you have to strip away all references and re-introduce a bloated lead! Just separate the table if you so please. I will restore my version and keep working on it. MSG17 (talk) 17:46, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Mahesh Babu Filmography

Why do you keep reverting my edits when the poster of Brahmotsavam has his production banner's old logo on it. GODUBNATION (talk) 20:07, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

First off, I have only reverted your edit on this topic once. But, that's beside the point. A production company and a producer are different. Although his company may have produced the movie, that doesn't make him a producer. If you can find a reliable source that says he was a producer, then add it in. Based on what I've researched so far, and the opening credits of the movie on YouTube, he isn't a producer. MSG17 (talk) 20:31, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
He is the sole owner of the production company and he produces all by himself without any other key member for the films so there would not be a way for him to not be the producer. GODUBNATION (talk) 20:41, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

I didn't go anywhere, but still, thanks! I never knew about wikimercenaries before... if you can, could you take a stab at sourcing and the lead? I've been stalling on the lead while trying to make sure each entry is referenced. It's been a bit tough finding sources for some of the more obscure movies. Kailash29792 recently let me know that indiancine.ma has an archive sources for films, often scans of reviews in Telugu newspapers and some songbooks or programs. There have actually been a couple movies were I wasn't able to find even that or a copy of the movie online. Not to mention, నేనే తెలుగు లిపి చాడువేణి చాలా మెల్లగా ఉంది (forgive my grammar), so having a second set of eyes, especially from a native speaker, would help speed this up a lot. Once again, thank you for the offer to help! MSG17 (talk) 00:11, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll be on it. Never occurred to me that you are a non-native Telugu speaker. Right wording would be నేను తెలుగు కొంచెం మెల్లగా చదువుతాను. Good effort though! --Ab207 (talk) 07:14, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

Collaboration for Mahesh babu filmography's FL candidature

Hello there, Mahesh Babu filmography lead has been improved significantly when compared to its previous versions. Now that the article has reached some sort of stability, I believe it would be a decent candidate for featured list. I do understand there's a lot more work that needs to be done, but with a little time and effort we can move in that direction. Do let me know if you are willing to collaborate on this task. Thank you!--Ab207 (talk) 05:10, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

I agree - in fact, that's why I started editing the page in the first place. I saw a lot of potential after that bloated lead was cut down. You've done a really great job with refining the lead and adding sources. So, I would love to collaborate with you on making this a FL. MSG17 (talk) 11:07, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
Glad to hear that! Our lead does a decent job on covering overall aspects of his filmography. After going through other FL lists on Indian actors what I observed is that they also briefly touch upon the actor's career planning, choice of selecting scripts etc. This is one area which we can improve upon. Do share your ideas with the same. --Ab207 (talk) 19:59, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, a lot of them have brief plot details for a couple movies. I think the lead looks pretty good. I'm mostly thinking about character names. The great thing with Indian movies is that a lot of them are on YouTube legally and for free, so they can be directly cited/referenced. I think we'll be at FAC status soon. MSG17 (talk) 23:56, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
Sounds good. After getting the lead set, we should make a rough self assessment if the article meets the basic criteria. Do you think we can do this ourselves or is it better to get an outsider opinion?--Ab207 (talk) 13:03, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
Since this is our first FL, we should probably post it on the peer review page. MSG17 (talk) 16:32, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
Agree, I had the same thing in my mind.--Ab207 (talk) 20:05, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Peer review

@Ab207: I think the article is ready for peer review. You want to do anything more to it?

I think its good to go. Will you do the job?--Ab207 (talk) 11:56, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
Added the article here. MSG17 (talk) 14:21, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, so far so good. Hope you didn't mind about that name issue. Did that because we wouldn't want to be called out for forgetting the basics.--Ab207 (talk) 14:31, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
No problem - we have to make sure the article is the best it can be. MSG17 (talk) 14:33, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Hey, its been nearly a month and no response to the peer review. Should we wait or proceed to FL nomination as is? -- Ab207 (talk) 19:54, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
Based on my cursory overview of the peer review archives, I don't think lists do very well there. As it has been nearly a month, I doubt we will get any replies. I also think that the article is in great shape at this point. I will withdraw the PR and proceed to the FL nom stage. Do you want to look over the article again before I do that? MSG17 (talk) 22:22, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
Yea we can go ahead. Right now the only problem is the disruptive edits by IP adding back the lede bloat. Stability is listed as a criteria, so its a bit concerning -- Ab207 (talk) 12:02, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
That is indeed an issue - looks like the page protection wore off again. I see that you have already requested re-protection, thanks! MSG17 (talk) 12:46, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
Lets hope that it will be settled soon. -- Ab207 (talk) 14:02, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
OK, looks like the page is protected again thanks to Cyphoidbomb. I'll wait a couple days to establish stability before making the page a FL candidate. MSG17 (talk) 15:56, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, good. - Ab207 (talk) 04:53, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

Nomination

@Ab207: OK, it took a bit longer than I expected, but I started the nomination. MSG17 (talk) 23:38, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

Good luck to ourselves! -- Ab207 (talk) 05:36, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
The same to you, thanks! MSG17 (talk) 12:28, 22 July 2020 (UTC)

Hey, Thank you for addressing the first reviewer's comments. Since we may need at least two more reviews, shall we post at relevant discussion pages to get more attention? Somewhat like this. --Ab207 (talk) 17:09, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

You're right, that sounds like a good way to get more feedback. Let's go ahead and do that. MSG17 (talk) 21:40, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
There's a review that is pending for 11 days now. As we are only 4 days away from the 2 months limit. Is it a good idea to ping them? --Ab207 (talk) 13:17, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
I talked to him on the Discord server. He said he would make our FLC his top priority in terms of reviews. MSG17 (talk) 21:11, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
Thats good to hear. --Ab207 (talk) 03:38, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

Cheers!

COVID-19 vaccine approval map

Hello - thanks for your work on updating the map. There's a misunderstanding about the status of approval for Canada, and specifically the dark blue color for Canada shown on the map. As presented by Health Canada here, discussed on the talk page here, and presented in the article here, the "interim order" by Health Canada is identical to the EUA status of the US FDA. The regulatory document from Health Canada states under the bold subtitle, Health Canada analysis of known and potential benefits and known and potential risks: There is no vaccine authorized for the prevention of COVID-19 in Canada, meaning that general authorization has not been issued, but rather it is an "interim order" (temporary) because the full results of the ongoing Pfizer-BioNtech Phase III trial are not yet final, as the trial will continue for another two years. If successful then, a "licensed" vaccine would mean the vaccine is "approved for general use". Further evidence of the "temporary" status of Health Canada EUA is that only 6 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine (3 million people) will be provided by April 2021 - general approval would occur only in the case of vaccine availability for some 70% of Canada's 38 million population (26+ million people = 52 million doses), a condition that won't exist for one vaccine. Canada has preordered 9 vaccines per capita, indicating that 8 other EUAs ("interim orders") will occur.

For nearly all drugs, vaccines, supplements, and health claims on product labels, Health Canada and the FDA are identical and synergized because of the free trade of pharmaceutical products between the two countries. It is misleading to display in the map with dark blue that Canada has a "general use" status that is different from the lighter blue color showing the EUA "granted" in the US. The map gives the impression that Canada has the most generalized authorization in the world (suggests a final approval, which it is not), a concept not claimed by Health Canada itself. Canada's "interim order" and the Bahrain-UK-Mexico-USA EUAs are the same status, as stated in the Reuters article discussing that Mexico was the 4th EUA country after Bahrain, UK, and Canada. Would be grateful for your change in the map. Thanks. Am open to discuss further here on your page. Zefr (talk) 15:52, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I thought that as Health Canada issued a "market authorization with conditions", this would essentially be a general use approval with extra monitoring. In addition, the New York Times has listed the vaccine as being approved (they have a separate designation for emergency use) in Canada on their vaccine tracker. I do have to say that I am not an expert on Canadian law, but considering these circumstances, I think there is a case for Canada having more of a general use approval than an EUA. (Edit: I should disclose that I am probably responsible for the initial designation of the vaccine as generally approved in Canada.) MSG17 (talk) 16:12, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
Notice the Health Canada vial information for the image of Tozinameran which states for "emergency use" and Cntl-F to lookup "one year" in the Health Canada interim order which says: An Order in Council would enable the operation of the Interim Order, allowing it to remain in effect for up to one year after it is made, i.e., it's a temporary marketing authorization order, indicating final licensing and general use are years away in the future when the clinical research is final, the results published under peer-review, a multinational license issued, just as it will be by the FDA, EU, and World Health Organization (see this article section). There's a lot of marketing misunderstanding about what "approval" is, leading to a misinformed public; let's not add to it. Zefr (talk) 17:52, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
I see. I updated the image and put Canada into EUA status. MSG17 (talk) 23:06, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi MSG17, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Former British Consulate of Hakodate

Hey there, I was wondering if you want to jointly nominate this article to be featured on the Did You Know? section of the Main Page? I was really surprised when I saw that you recently created it - it is one of the main attractions to Hakodate! I really enjoyed my visit there in 2019, but I could only get photos of its interior since the building's exterior was being refurbished. ❯❯❯ Mccunicano☕️ 05:06, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Sure! Actually, I plan to write an article on the Russian consulate tomorrow (well, it's just past midnight, so more like later today) and then we can look at doing a joint nomination of that. There's some interesting stuff (for example, the consulates were located next to each other, and a Russian book states that one of the fires in the British consulate spread to the Russian one as well and burnt it down.) Thanks for the picture and expanding the article! MSG17 (talk) 05:19, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:Diplomatic missions by receiving country templates requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Talk! 17:01, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

I was confused by this as well, because you proposed a speedy renaming, but then afterwards created the future Category. I support it anyhow, and think your note/reference to the other category was great. I appreciate the clean up/work you've been doing with the templates. All of the templates exist now for Category:Diplomatic missions by receiving country templates, and they need to be populated within articles themselves, and more Intra wiki links need to be created. I documented some of the tasks/descriptions and would love your feedback. User:Shushugah/DiplomacyDocumentation. ~ Shushugah (talk) 21:56, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
@Shushugah: - I didn't know about the speedymove process at first, so I mistakenly created the future category. Your project looks interesting, I'll check it out.

Hi-Tek incident

Congratulations and thanks for completing the article! Do you plan to nominate it for DYK? DHN (talk) 02:44, 3 September 2021 (UTC)

Yes; in fact, I will attempt to nominate it for a Four Award. But, I will proceed with caution; there are still some doubts and issues that I need to discuss and look at on the journey to FA. Anyway, first, I must rest before I do anything (plus I need to catch up on my DYK QPQ requirement since I have 5 successful noms now). I must thank you for the great work that you did on the original article - definitely learned a lot. In general, I think Asian American politics is a pretty undercovered field, so it feels great that I can help fix that. MSG17 (talk) 02:56, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
