good morning Josh, hoping to guide updates being done on the B.C. Sheriff Service wiki page. The information with respect to neutral court officers is not accurate as well as statements with respect to no authority outside a courthouse. Without legal authority outside a courthouse Sheriffs could not execute warrants, move persons arrested by other agencies, issue subpoenas or court related documents, assist on Canada Day deployments or fly across Canada and re arrest persons on outstanding warrants. Also the Sheriffs Act provides full authority to undertake any duties requested by the Director of the Sheriff Service, Provide close quarter protection to Judges, Crown or to B.C. govt. employees under threat and Operate as an intelligence and Threat Assessment unit. sheriffs also have authority to provided services to protect anygovt site, building or venue utilized by the courts or govt. Sheriffs also have authority to assist the BC CORONERS service as required. The Sheriffs Act was also updated to provide for full authority under exigent circumstances to allow Sheriffs to intervene in matters that were placing the public at risk.
