Dew computing
[edit]Ywangupeica cites the his own articles with undue weight. Also, he puts link to his website with an announces that they will promote this on Wikipedia. I hardly believe that is good faith.-Mys_721tx (talk) 23:49, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ok, you are right this time. He has some conflict of interests with the username. Cerevisae (talk) 23:58, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
You are all right in these points. But I did this in good faith. I think I passed the trust test: "[W]ould relevant others ... [readers, editors, admins, arbitration committee, Wikimedia Foundation] ... trust my judgment if they knew I was in this situation?" If people knew I am one of the authors of these research papers, they will still trust me in this article because what I wrote was true. I think the current version is really biased if you read it. If you believe my user name has COI, it is also a sign that I did not intent to do anything bias. I know that it may be not appropriate for me to write the article again. Could you please summarize the information and write the article? This is an important research area. Thank you very much. Ywangupeica (talk) 01:10, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ywangupeica, I think your last addition was acceptable but Mys721tx reverted it. You can try to find the person who created the article for some cooperation in improving the article. Or you may go to WP:WikiProject Computing and post on their talk page to ask for help. Thanks. Cerevisae (talk) 02:40, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
After I posted my opinion about the editor's reverting, few hours after, this editor nominated deletion of this article without point out the reasons. This is not a fair and rational action. This reaction to my post is full of personal power over me. Please check this situation. Ywangupeica (talk) 22:52, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ywangupeica, he mentioned the reasons here in this page. WP:Articles_for_deletion/Dew_computing The main problem is the reliability of your journals publisher. I may help to defend your article if possible. Cerevisae (talk) 23:21, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ywangupeica, it seems that your publisher "Research Online Publishing" was listed as Predatory open access publishing on this website (number 351) in 2014 but was removed from the Predatory publishing list in August 2015. The current list does not contain your publisher RonPub. You may use this argument in your favour.
You can find it in the comment page.
Anthony says: August 11, 2015 at 4:50 PM
Respected Sir, you are doing a very great job! Thank you for your work aimed at checkmating predatory publishers. You listed Research Online Publishing (RonPub). But one of its journals — http://www.ronpub.com/index.php/journals/ojwt/publication-fees — Open Journal of Web Technologies (OJWT) — DOES NOT charge publication fees for authors from low-income countries and I quote “All articles of OJWT are fully open access and online available to readers FREE OF CHARGE”. Most of their claims look simple and not exaggerated. Would such a seemingly genuine journal be classified as predatory? why? Note: I’m referring only to the Open Journal of Web Technologies and not its publisher Research Online Publishing (RonPub). Thank you so much for your time.

Jeffrey Beall says: August 11, 2015 at 4:55 PM
Neither this publisher nor the journal you mention is on my list at this time. I did have RonPub on my list for a time, but I removed it from the list over a year ago. Reply Anthony says: August 12, 2015 at 1:00 AM
I see. It seems the list on this PRESENT page is it updated? Thank you for quick response!
Thank you very much for checking the information for me. I also checked the web before I started to work with RonPub. This information is very important.
This editor not only reverted and deleted Dew computing article, but also deleted another article I wrote: Cloud-dew architecture. He also deleted the Chinese translations of these two articles. Basically, he wiped out all my work. I don't know why. This editor speaks Chinese, and I also worked in China for 15 years before I came to Canada. I want to ask him to follow the recusation principle, and change another editor to work on this article. I am not sure if I should talk to you about this. If I am wrong, could you tell me whom I should talk to? Thanks. Ywangupeica (talk) 00:23, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, I have no idea which editor you can talk to on Wikipedia apart from Wikiproject computing members. Cerevisae (talk) 01:16, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Sarawak
[edit]Hello, Cerevisae -- Out of curiosity I looked at the GA nomination for Sarawak. Then I looked at the article. Just skimming the article (reading quickly), I found several things that needed fixing, so I made a few copy-edits. I'm wondering if you submitted this article to GOCE to request a copy-edit. To do a thorough job, I would have to spend more time on it. You can still request a copy-edit at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests. – Corinne (talk) 01:42, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- Dear Corinne, thanks for your suggestion. However, this article is in the middle of a GA review by Sainsf. I am not sure whether the nominator is allowed to submit the article for GOCE without asking the permission from the GA reviewer. Cerevisae (talk) 07:34, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- No problem Cerevisae. Mahavira, an article I am reviewing, is requesting a copyedit from the GOCE. We will wait till Corinne completes her work, and then resume the review. @Corinne: Thanks for helping with the article, I too am a member of the GOCE. I have already done a lot of cleanup in the sections before "Government and politics", so you may wish to focus on the rest of the article at the moment. Sarawak 2
[edit]Cerevisae, I had to override your last edit to Sarawak. I was in the middle of copy-editing the article and had made a lot of small edits that would be difficult and tedious to re-do. I had posted a tag at the beginning of the article saying that a GOCE copy-edit of the article was underway and requesting editors refrain from editing until it was completed. I hope you can easily re-do your edit after I have finished the copy-edit, which will be tomorrow. Thanks. – Corinne (talk) 03:43, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi, can you help me to find sources from PDF documents or news records for this paragraph on Sabah:
“ | Earliest human migration and settlement into the region is believed to have dated back about 20,000–30,000 years ago. These early humans are believed to be Australoid or Negrito people. The next wave of human migration, believed to be Austronesian Mongoloids, occurred around 3000 BC. | ” |
I'm intending to develop this article for GA in the future, but still can't find any good references for this. Molecule Extraction (talk) 08:32, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- Molecule Extraction, I am glad that you decided to take the mission to develop the Sabah article into a GA article. It is not an easy feat when you do your research yourself without the help of other people who are familiar with Sabah history. Regrading the above statement, you can try to search its sources from the article History of Sabah and include the points that you think is important. The source for the above statement can be found at The Ecology of Kalimantan (last two paragraphs of page 55 and first two paragraphs of page 57). But regarding the migration of Australoid/Negrito/Mongoloids, I think it refers to Borneo, where these people first started their settlements at Niah, Sarawak and migrated to other parts of Borneo including Sabah. Based on my limited knowledge of Sabah prehistory, you may also include the discovery of Mansuli valley and from another source at Bukti Kebudayaan Paleolitik di Lahad Datu, Sabah which dates back the prehistoric Sabah to 235,000 years. Another one is Bukit Tengkotak, famous for being the largest pottery-making site during Neolithic South East Asia and its evidence of contact with nearby prehistoric sites. Source: The prehistory of Bukit Tengkorak, Sabah, Malaysia and Bukit Tengkorak Archaeological Sites, Semporna. Good luck! Cerevisae (talk) 16:39, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

- Hi, I'm currently working the article on another sandbox (as the main sandbox is large in size so I move into another to carefully rewording and looking into its sources). May I know is this Agop Batu Tulug Caves article could be related to the Prehistory of Sabah? As looking on its age is really old especially with the coffin which been said by the locals there could be related with China and Indochina. Can you help to finding more resources on Sabah prehistory relations with China? I'm already collecting a number of resources during my past absent for the history part but my knowledge on the prehistory is still limited. I would be glad if you can help me more on this section. DYK for Bintulu
[edit]On 10 April 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Bintulu, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Sarawak information details
[edit]I was just wondering if you have collected the information you are removing from the Sarawak article anywhere. Despite being part of FA criteria, WP:SUMMARYSTYLE does fall apart a bit when there's no subarticles to put stuff in! When I removed History I shifted the details to History of Malaysia in lieu of somewhere else. History of Malaysia is already too long itself mind you, but hey, it's not under concerted FA effort. Other detail could similarly perhaps fit into other Malaysia subarticles. I suppose in the long run creating a series of Sarawak articles would be optimal (ethnic groups in particular would be a great one to have), but that's also the path of the most work! If you're not collecting them, they're still in the history, so they're not lost, I'm just asking if they're somewhere more structured. Best, CMD (talk) 13:35, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, CMD, thanks for your concern. I just created the History of Sarawak article. It should help. The info that I had removed from the rest of the article are statistics, terms that are too techincal, and excessive examples that I think would dampen the readers' interest in reading the article. So, I don't keep a copy of the info that I removed. Otherwise, no other important info has been removed from the article. You can now include the Sarawak info from the "History of Malaysia" into "History of Sarawak" so that the "History of Malaysia" article wont get too long. Regards. Cerevisae (talk) 22:49, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
- The readable prose size of "Sarawak" is now 56k. Cerevisae (talk) 22:56, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
- I agree with the removal of technical details from the overview Sarawak page, but sometimes someone looking for a very specific article wants very specific details! I'm afraid History of Malaysia has a few more problems than length, but it's good to get the subarticles going. Thanks for the information!
- I am keeping an eye on the Sarawak discussions. I am pretty sure that once the PR is finished and you renominate for FAC I would support. Very good article. Best, CMD (talk) 23:02, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Sarawak copy edit
[edit]Hello. As part of my ongoing copy edit, I'm also checking the sources as I come to them to see if there is extra material that I can use. On coming up to the statement concerning the establishment of the British protectorate, I've noted that the source does not explicitly state that Sarawak was signed to the British Government as a protectorate. I've done some searching and many websites do indicate that the year that Sarawak became a protectorate was indeed 1888, so I'm not refuting that point, merely that the source used does not explicitly state this. The same source is also used in the Kingdom of Sarawak article for the same statement. Copyeditors aren't tasked with rooting out sources, our task is to help in the rewording of the text when requested to, so I'm afraid I'll have to leave that in your hands. What I will do is remove the source and add a citation needed tag. Regards Blackmane (talk) 02:00, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- No problem. I have added another source. Thanks for pointing that out。 :-) Cerevisae (talk) 17:22, 6 March 2017 (UTC)

Sarawak Updates
[edit]I'll post copies of this to Mr Cervaise, Mr Sarastro and Mr CasLiber.
Just noticed that ANI thread about yesterday's edit warring on the Sarawak FAC page. What a ridiculous waste of time! The guy who closed the thread displayed rare intelligence in noting: "If a rule prevents you from improving or maintaining Wikipedia, ignore it. And if you care more about rules than about encyclopedia-building, go find another website"
Today I picked out the following paragraph:
Tourism plays a major role in the economy of the state, contributing 9.3% of the state's GDP in 2015. Foreign visitors to Sarawak are predominantly from Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and China. A number of different organisations, both state and private, are involved in the promotion of tourism in Sarawak: the Sarawak Tourism Board is the state body responsible for tourism promotion in the state, various private tourism groups are united under the Sarawak Tourism Federation, and the Sarawak Convention Bureau is responsible for attracting conventions, conferences, and corporate events which are held in the Borneo Convention Centre in Kuching. The public and private bodies in Sarawak hold a biannual event to award the Sarawak Hornbill Tourism Award, an award for achievements within various categories, to recognise businesses and individuals for their efforts in the development of tourism within the state
I've re-written it thus:
Tourism plays a major role in the economy of the state, contributing 9.3% of the state's GDP in 2015. In the same year the top five countries for foreign visitors were Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and China. Different organisations, both state and private, are involved in the promotion of tourism: the Sarawak Tourism Board; the Sarawak Tourism Federation, a collection of private tourism groups; and the Sarawak Convention Bureau, a body responsible for promoting MICE tourism, the venue for which is the Borneo Convention Centre in Kuching. The public and private bodies hold a biannual event to award the Sarawak Hornbill Tourism Award, an award for achievements within various categories, to recognise businesses and individuals for their efforts in the development of tourism in Sarawak.
Points to note:
- 1. You repeat "Sarawak" way too often. You don't need to. We all know what you're talking about.
- 2. You tell us that: "Foreign visitors to Sarawak are predominantly from Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and China". This isn't true, nor does your source, the Borneo Post, support the claim. The correct source is Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Sarawak: Visitor Arrivals into Sarawak 2015. Take a look at the figures and you'll see the word "predominantly" is incorrect: in 2015 China was only slightly ahead of Thailand, India and the UK. See how I've re-jigged your sentence.
- 3. See too how I'm replacing your newspaper sources with government ones: when you discuss official stuff it's usually best to use official sources. It makes you look more cleverer and more betterer.
- 4. You have: "the Sarawak Convention Bureau is responsible for attracting conventions, conferences, and corporate events". I've replaced this with MICE tourism, where MICE is an acronym that represents: Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events. Check to see if MICE tourism is wiki-linked.
To be frank, it seems that just about every source I check is wrong. There's an obvious conclusion to be drawn from this, but it's not up to me to make it.
And that's it for today. Doubtless some shit-faced moderator will now come along and ban me, but I'm happy to help. If you're interested, I live just above the Malaysian border, not far from Penang. Stay cool. AuricGoldfinger (talk) 12:35, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks AuricGoldfinger, greatly appreciated. I don't know how the references got jumbled up after some time. Hopefully, you can cooperate and divide the source checking job with Mike Christie so that it can finish faster. Thank you.Cerevisae (talk) 12:49, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
- Perhaps you should ask the moderator, Sarastro1. AuricGoldfinger (talk) 14:41, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
- AuricGoldfinger, I give up already. You don't have to help me out in this article. However, if you want, you can improve on this article by yourself and all the FA credit will go to you. Thanks. Cerevisae (talk) 13:44, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

Sarawak districts
[edit]Hello Mr. Cerevisae. Do you have any plans to write the articles on Sarawak district? I just saw this template and it seems there are still many red links on Sarawak part. Night Lantern (talk) 09:48, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
Hi, Night Lantern, I have no plans to write about Sarawak districts. Cerevisae (talk) 09:55, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
- I see. It's alright by the way. Actually I want to help on this but I'm also only has limited knowledge about this state. I hope there will be any Sarawakian user here that can dedicate his/her time here to work on that. Night Lantern (talk) 10:02, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
- Night Lantern, apart from population statistics, demogrpahics, and the district office, there are very few data available for each district in Sarawak. Cerevisae (talk) 01:48, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, that is one of the problem. I hope their local authorities will be alert on this. Based from my own observation, they also need to organise every local authorities in the state properly especially when I see the state divisions and districts map. The division actually can be further divided into several zones such as north, south, west, etc. like the Sabah administrative divisions (based on the different colours) which currently are not stated (or not used/enforced) on the present government website. Night Lantern (talk) 11:08, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

Cryptocurrency related pages are under special measures
[edit]A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.
General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions. You are required to supply reliable sources with any cryptocurrency related content you add. User-generated content and cryptocurrency enthusiast blogs/websites, like you exclusively used here, are not reliable sources. MER-C 16:56, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

I'm concerned that your edits to this article are overly reliant on self-published sources and are promotional. This is a reminder that cryptocurrency related content must be backed by reliable sources, in accordance with WP:V and WP:IRS, and that the claims of roadmaps or other material produced by blockchain/cryptocurrency companies or should not be repeated without question, lest they promote the subject. If your edits do not meet the required sourcing standards, I will have no choice but to consider topic banning you under the general sanctions regime. MER-C 20:30, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
MER-C, thanks for your comment. I did use the self-published sources but to a limited extent describing the history of the zerocoin protocol and also the history of the respective cryptocurrencues and their milestones they have achieved so far. I didn't include about the ongoing projects they are working so far unless they have successfully achieved it. I didn't use any flowery terms about the cryptocurrency on why the coin is better than bitcoin, or it is the best coin in the universe ever or why other coins are bad. This is because these claims requires reliable third party sources. By listing out the milestones, is it considered as highly promotional? I strongly believe that for the history and the milestone of the coin can be better described by using self-published sources because they are the owner of their own history. The zerocoin protocol did not get significant mainstream media attention, therefore finding reliable third party sources is quite difficult. Since you are insisting on reliable third party sources, I guess I have to refrain myself from editing this page until a few years later when it become more prominent and featured frequently in mainstream media. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Cyst into Pericardial cyst. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 12:29, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Pickleball; History section
[edit]Cerevisae: You recently added a paragraph in the history section of the Pickleball article. Although I don't like removing contributions from others, I do not feel the paragraph pertaining to Sukdev Singh and his development or "Jombola" should be included in the pickleball article. The paragraph itself states that Pickleball and Jombola were developed independently. If that is the case, Jombola had no impact on the "history of pickleball". As written, the statement appears to be a side note intended to promote Jombola. If Jombola meets the Wikipedia notability guidelines, I recommend creating a separate article for Jombola. We can then add a link in Pickleball's "See also" section under "Similar sports". OvertAnalyzer (talk) 14:40, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- For now I have moved "Jombola" and "Sandy pickle" to a separate Related sports section. OvertAnalyzer (talk) 14:53, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

Avoiding cut-and-paste moves
[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Sri Aman a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Simanggang. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 20:29, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- Noted, thanks. Will request for a page move later. Cerevisae (talk) 10:29, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
