Average Portuguese Joe (talk) 01:37, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Muchas gracias/Muito obrigado/Thanks.

Bruno Rene Vargas (talk) 23:57, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Bruno Rene Vargas (talk) 00:24, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Andy Garcia

[edit]

Hello, I saw you edit Andy Garcia's page and incurred violation of Wikipedia's Guidelines. I am here to tell you that it should not happen again. If so. you'll be reportedJack Morales Garcia (talk) 23:08, 4 March 2021 (UTC).[reply]

Hola colega:

Sorry for taking my time. Yes this is a different account used by my brother that I've recently made. Apparently due to a glitch I couldn't get on the talk page. Anyways. MOSCONTEXTBOI clearly states. that place of birth, ethnicity and former nationality shouldn't be brought up. Unless relevant. You can look up yourself. Garcia does not currently hold dual citizenship and the trend of hyphenated Americans is used by those ignorant of this. Bethany Sanders alias JMG (talk) 12:34, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:59, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Aziyade Gil, note that you are misinterpreting the external linking policy when quoting it in your edit summaries. A link to a social media website can be included if there is no official website link in the article and it's a verified account controlled by the subject. In the couple of cases I checked you added social networking sites when an official website is already included in the article. Regards, -- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 19:45, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry. I ask that you please forgive me.

What happened is that I did not interpret that policy correctly. But I assure you that I made those edits in good faith. Aziyade Gil (talk) 20:35, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I always assumed good faith, just wanted you to know why I reverted a couple of your additions! -- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 20:45, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Comment

[edit]

Hi, Aziyade! Regarding this edit, it goes without saying that I know that Spanish citizenship/nationality is not granted per ius soli, so stricly speaking is not entirely redundant with the birthplace, but at the same time we usually don't have a way to accede to that knowledge (the citizenship). Vis-à-vis the infobox, I understand the notability of the citizenship in politicians, diplomats, military people et al... (and we can, by proxy, make some assumptions under some of these scenarios, namely some of those occupations in a given country have a requisite of citizenship in such country), not so much in artists. All in all this thing about artists is my reasoning, but it actually happens to go hand in hand with WP:INFONAT (an actual MOS guideline), even with the caveats that we can't really assume the citizenship from the birthplace in the case of Spain (or most of the Old World for that matter). Be as it may, please observe that there is no obligation to fill the parametre, so I suggest you to be flexible, considering both to take decisions on a case by case basis as well as considering not trying to fix something that may not be wrong, particularly when you may be shoehorning a WP:BLP infobox parametre that you may not be able to source properly.--Asqueladd (talk) 00:29, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hola Asqueladd:

Aziyade Gil (talk) 00:42, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hola, Aziyade Gil.

https://en.m.wiki.x.io/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/1068450299

Aziyade Gil (talk) 02:10, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Gaudí... Kinda... The current setup of the infobox of that article vis-à-vis the inclusion of nationality looks like a compromise in regard of the current setup of the article's opening statement. Perhaps citizenship instead of nationality could be even more innocuous. Suffice to say, I am sure that the issue has been throughougly discussed in this case (a cultural icon up for "grabs"), so I advice you not to invest time to try to modify that opening statement.--Asqueladd (talk) 02:15, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting... I have read that internet access in the island is not smooth. Those are not biodata I am willing to disclose in here, but they are biodata I may be willing to share with you via mail if you are curious. :-)--Asqueladd (talk) 00:44, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Answer

[edit]

I'm not the best person to answer that question. Owing to my own limitations, I generally produce content which is susceptible to copyedit. Just be bold and do your best. It can be fixed later. Regards.--Asqueladd (talk) 22:58, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Regional and national origin

[edit]

Please stop changing 'Catalan' to 'Spanish' in biographies. Regional and national origin is a sensitive issue, and this is disruptive. Àngel Guimerà, for example, was a key figure in the Renaixença: One could hardly be more closely linked to the Catalan language and culture. Consensus in a 2018 RfC is that if someone is strongly identified with a region such as Catalonia or the Basque Country, their biography should say that. Thank you. BlackcurrantTea (talk) 20:28, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

But that has a consensus solution. MOS states that the country of origin should be used in the intro. The Spanish from Catalonia or Catalan from Spain was proposed in an RfC on the matter as a intermediate solution. So, in the case of Àngel Guimerà, the consensus must also be fulfilled; as well as Laura Borràs, Artur Mas or Carles Puigdemont Aziyade Gil (talk) 21:36, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please re-read the discussion you had with Czar and Crystallizedcarbon. Both of them explained that you misunderstood the RfCs and consensus around the matter. Two months have passed, and you're still doing the same thing that they asked you to stop doing. Here I am, a third person asking you to stop. Consider the possibility that you are, indeed, wrong about this. And please indent your talk page posts. Thank you. BlackcurrantTea (talk) 22:10, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if I made a mistake in my edits again, maybe it's true that in those cases I should have added "from Spain". But according to what Crystallizedcarbon said it's fine to add from Spain to an article if it originally said Catalan or add from Catalonia if it originally said Spanish, as a possible consensus solution Aziyade Gil (talk) 22:32, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Saludos Aziyade Gil (talk) 00:18, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, you too. (Best to stick to English here, this being the English Wikipedia. It can seem unfriendly to communicate in a language not everyone here might understand, even if it's not meant that way.) Cheers, BlackcurrantTea (talk) 01:11, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Leoni Torres

[edit]

Hello, Aziyade Gil,

Thank you for creating Leoni Torres.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Hello! Good work on your article for Leoni Torres. I was reading through the body of the article, and ran into this line: "Torres developed not only as a performer, but also as a composer, with songs like...", as well as other similar lines that talk about how Torres "transcended", don't seem to be written in a neutral point of view. I've made some minor changes to the article because of this, and wanted to let you know.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Utopes}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template. Hipal (talk) 21:12, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
