The Simpsons' twenty-second season is expected to start airing on Fox during Fall 2010 and is expected to end in Spring 2011. The Simpsons was renewed for at least two additional seasons during the twentieth season leading up to this season.[1]

Known plots and guest stars
- Martha Stewart will appear in the episode "The Fight Before Christmas." It was written by Dan Castellaneta and Deb Lacusta, their first writing credit since "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bangalore" aired during the seventeenth season.[5]
- Maggie goes missing.[8]
- Homer becomes a hairdresser.[8]
- Moe Szyslak turns his tavern into an ultra-trendy bar.[8]
- "Treehouse of Horror XXI", to air in 2010 as part of season 22, will feature a segment that parodies the Twilight novel and film series. Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter film series, will guest star in the segment.[9] Hugh Laurie will guest star in a segment that parodies Dead Calm.[10]
- Flight of the Conchords (Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement),[11] Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Mark Zuckerberg, Mike Scioscia and Alyson Hannigan are slated to guest star during the season.[8]
- Russell Brand has told The Sun that he will appear on the show. He said: "It's true I'm going to be in The Simpsons. I was having an amazing birthday party and found out I was going into space. Then my agent says, 'Oh, The Simpsons want you in an episode.' Once you've gone yellow, you've made it. My ideal show would be where I have a cartoon relapse with Barney and Homer and get smashed out of my mind with them."[12]
