The Orleans Hotel and Casino is a Mardi Gras themed hotel with 1,885 rooms and a 135,000 square foot casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Owned by Boyd Gaming Corporation, it includes a large multipurpose show area that can be converted into an ice rink. It is a major home for poker in Las Vegas and was one of the biggest poker rooms in Las Vegas prior to the 21st century poker boom. The Orleans is commonly referred to as "The O" by its employees.
History
The Hotel and Casino opened in 1998.
When the casino first opened, it did not perform up to expectations. In 1999 a major addition to the casino and other amenities was added. The success of these changes has been demonstrated by the continued expansions in later years.
The Orleans Arena was added in 2003.
A second hotel tower was added in 2004.
Attractions
Shuttle service is offered between the Gold Coast and The Orleans approximately every 15 minutes.
