Josef Marx
[edit]Shouldn't there be a page for oboist and publisher Josef Marx - so important to Wolpe
Premiere of Zeus und Elida
[edit]When was Zeus und Elida premiered? Allmusic says it wasn't until 1997 here. Squandermania (talk) 21:33, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- The worklist in the New Grove article on Wolpe by Austin Clarkson says "? Berlin, ?c1928", and then gives the Amsterdam 1997 performance as well, presumably as a backup, given the uncertainty about the 1928 performance. Perhaps more information can be found in an item from Clarkson's bibliography: T. Phleps. "Wo es der Musik die Sprache verschlägt Zeus und Elida und Schöne Geschichten von Stefan Wolpe", Neue Zeitschrift für Musik 158, no. 6 (1997): 48–51.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 21:47, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
"He escaped to Vienna"
[edit]The article states, "He escaped to Vienna separating from his wife and daughter."
"Escaped"? What does this mean? That Wolpe for personal reasons abandoned his wife and daughter and moved to Vienna?
Given the times and the place (1920s – 1930s Europe), "escaped" would generally be thought to refer to the ominous political situation. This does not appear to be the case here, however.
Could some knowledgeable person please clarify?
