Episode list

[edit]

I have removed the episode list. The content was simply too implausible and unverifiable. Even the alleged dates made no sense. --DanielRigal (talk) 20:51, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have no objection to the episode list being brought back if it can be verified against reliable sources. I won't argue notability, overcoverage or fan writing. Just make sure it is verifiably correct! Until then, please can people stop re-adding it. (Note: I wasn't the IP editor who removed a couple of days ago with the rude comment). --DanielRigal (talk) 11:29, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New Episode Titles Found

[edit]

A friend showed me these from the US Copyright Database. I would add them but editing is blocked, so I posted them here.

  • Well-written -the prose is clear and concise, respects copyright laws, and the spelling and grammar are correct; and it complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation.
  • Verifiable with no original research: it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline; it provides in-line citations from reliable sources for direct quotations, statistics, published opinion, counter-intuitive or controversial statements that are challenged or likely to be challenged, and contentious material relating to living persons—science-based articles should follow the scientific citation guidelines; and it contains no original research.
  • Broad in its coverage: it addresses the main aspects of the topic; and it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).
  • Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without bias, giving due weight to each.
  • Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
  • Illustrated, if possible, by images: images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid fair use rationales are provided for non-free content; and images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions.

  3. Dora, SpongeBob Swap Sides in Fickle Web-Video World (info) [wsj.com] - changes path
  4. Spongebob Squarepants - Season 8 (info) [jbhifionline.com.au] - Times out sometimes according to the Checklinks, but I think this is a more questionable source. I'm willing to take it for the Region 4 release citation though. It's sometimes the only online form of verification possible.
  5. COLUMN: Do you remember Bill Fagerbakke? He's a star - is a column and is not really reliable.
  6. 19 Celebrities You Might Not Have Known Did Voice-Overs On “SpongeBob SquarePants” - is a clear case of WP:CIRCULAR as it points directly to Wikipedia and cannot be used. You will need to cite them in a different fashion.
  7. The NYT link to Fulcher's biography [1] is not reliable, it may be hosted on reliable news source, but this is culled from various sources and is not even as good as TVguide. Please replace this one as well.

Comments: This article is in rougher shape with the sources than I would have first expected, but its not that bad. The image issue is not present, and that is a good sign, but I disagree with the large portraits of Goodman and Samberg being used when they only had a small role. The one for Todd Juenger is also rather questionable.

  • "During the season's run, SpongeBob SquarePants became the Nickelodeon series with most episodes, surpassing Rugrats with 172 episodes, having 178 after the eighth season had complete broadcast on television." should be restructured. It is a bit off-putting for me.
  • "Moreover, the episode "Oral Report" was written by Alexander, Cervas and Dani Michaeli, and was directed by Alan Smart.[10]" - Please remove "Moreover". The production, cast and reception sections look and flow very well overall, and they are heavily cited and backed up. Just please address the source issues as pointed out above and fix them as necessary. The actual summary is very well done until we get to the episode list. As you probably have expected by now: the TVguide-like one line descriptions for the episode summaries are simply a major problem for establishing appropriate context of the show. While I don't know if its really a failing issue, it is a major hindered and I wouldn't feel comfortable passing it when the article does little more than duplicate the larger episode list. Even "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!" gets no more than a single sentence. The DVD release section is a bit sparse and TVonDVD's [2] description is simply not holding up too well here. The Wikia lists many more features which should be either linked to from being directly on the disc (primary source) or found elsewhere online.[3] This will help towards the comprehensive aspect of the FA. Do these fixes and I can pass it. I am placing it on hold for now though. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 19:31, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please give me an update when you are done. It's just been a week, but I see you are still working on this. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:26, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Chris! I think the issues are now resolved. I didn't expand the others because for me, since the segments are 11 minutes long, it's fine to have short summaries. Thanks. Mediran (tc) 06:42, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Colour contrast problems

[edit]

It seems that this article is using colours in the infobox which don't satisfy Wikipedia's accessibility guidelines. The contrast between the foreground colour and the background colour is low, which means that it may be difficult or impossible for people with visual impairments to read it.

To correct this problem, a group of editors have decided to remove support for invalid colours from Template:Infobox television season and other television season templates after 1 September 2015. If you would still like to use custom colours for the infobox and episode list in this article after that date, please ensure that the colours meet the WCAG AAA standard.

To test whether a colour combination is AAA-compliant you can use Snook's colour contrast tool. If your background colour is dark, then please test it against a foreground colour of "FFFFFF" (white). If it is light, please test it against a foreground colour of "000000" (black). The tool needs to say "YES" in the box for "WCAG 2 AAA Compliant" when you input the foreground and the background colour. You can generally make your colour compliant by adjusting the "Value (%)" fader in the middle box.

Please be sure to change the invalid colour in every place that it appears, including the infobox, the episode list, and the series overview table. If you have any questions about this, please ask on Template talk:Infobox television season. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 05:30, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

I am proposing to merge SpongeBob's Runaway Roadtrip with SpongeBob SquarePants (season 8); I think there is not enough notability for Runaway Roadtrip to be given its own seperate article, and can be easily explained in the season eight page. Shadowboxer2005 (talk) 03:31, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
