I'd get rid of the Gaza Strip map as it's an anachronism and use the Mandate map. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 21:03, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, i've removed the Gaza Strip map, as it seems as the airfield is now either located in modern day Israel or straddles the border. See "Location" section below for more info. Gavbadger (talk) 19:12, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Location

[edit]

The article says RAF Gaza was on the site of the modern Karni crossing between the Gaza Strip and Israel with a citation in Hebrew, which I can't read. Karni crossing, which is on the north east side of the strip is nowhere near the coordinates added to the article (or the pushpin in the map). DeCausa (talk) 12:55, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, the co-ordinates came from RAF WEB which is referenced in the article. It seems looking at the The Jerusalem Post reference and my copy of C.G. Jefford (RAF Squadrons. A comprehensive record of the movement and equipment of all RAF squadrons and their antecedents since 1912), it appears that the airfield was around 4 nautical miles from the coast. Showing that the RAF WEB co-ordinates are incorrect. I can't find a exact location due to Google Maps blurring of Israel, so i've placed the co-ordinates as being on the (now closed) Karni crossing.
