Notability tag
[edit]The WP:GNG state that "Sources", for notability purposes, should be secondary sources, as those provide the most objective evidence of notability. ... Multiple sources are generally expected. These have now been provided so as a result it seems fair to remove the tag. If anyone wants to restore the tag I have no objections but I would ask that if it is restored the reasons for its inclusion are added here so as they can be addressed. Thank you. removed
[edit]I removed the following from the article:
The inventor of the portable cardiac defibrillator, Dr Frank Pantridge of Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital used to have residence in Poleglass.[citation needed] There is also a road named after him, Pantridge Road.[citation needed]
I can find no evidence to support either claim and they have been there a while without citation. I'm putting them here as certain editors seem to get very upset when you remove unverified material even though you are supposed to and in case anybody eventually finds sources. Placename translation
[edit]I would question the translation of Poleglass / Pholl Glas into "beautiful valley". Beautiful Valley would be Gleann Alainn (as is the name sometimes given to the Cork suburb of Mayfield which was traditionally Baile na mBocht or town of the poor, a leper colony). Poll Glas to me means Green Hole (or Green Pool / Pond) Coolavokig (talk) 10:56, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Poleglass, or Twinbrook?
[edit]Or both?! -Twinbrook, Belfast redirects here. Basket Feudalist 13:58, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
- That's because a bunch of pricks e.g. WP Admins don't know what they're fucking talking about.
- Twinbrook is an area very close to Poleglass. It originally had an article but it was two sentences long and so it was changed into a redirect to Electoral wards of Belfast then Upper Falls (District Electoral Area). Both are inaccurate however as Twinbrook (and Poleglass) are within Lisburn City Council. When I edited this article I added a very brief description of the neighbouring Twinbrook and Lagmore areas and so thought that it was the best target for the redirect as this is the only article that actually describes the area. For my part I personally have no objections to Twinbrook, Belfast being re-established as a separate article but there is a distinct lack of sources and notability issues so for now it seems best to summarise it here. Twinbrook deserves its own page
[edit]I'm working on a Twinbrook page. Twinbrook redirects here which makes 0 sense because Poleglass and Twinbrook are separate areas. If there is another reason to as why it redirects please notify me here Nintentoad125 (talk) 19:51, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
