In the article for the Pecheneg people is said that their language (seemingly) belonged to the Oghur branch - as a source they quote the Ukrainian encyclopedia from 1963. Here it is said that most specialist think it's Oghuz. Which of the two is correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.80.68.49 (talk) 07:56, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion, I doubt that the Pecheneg language belongs to the Oghuric branch, because it's already obvious that it belongs to the Shaz branch. Although, I have doubts about it being part of the Oghuz branch as there's not enough proof for it to be considered as one. So, I believe that the Pecheneg language being part of the Kipchack brach might be the correct one as there are speculations that it sounds closely similar to the Cuman language.
