Three-act Structure

[edit]

This article presupposes that the only form of narrative structure is that of the conflict structure of setup-conflict-resolution. This is a rather dogmatic approach to the topic. As other articles on this Wikipedia note, there are other methods of narrative structure, one such example being that of kishōtenketsu. The article should be rewritten to espouse a more balanced point of view. --60.230.104.180 (talk) 12:05, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Linear and non-linear narrative structures

[edit]

This section primarily deals with non-linear structures, and doesn't even fain to describe linear structures. Aside from this it claims "broken narratives" are not true non-linear structures, however there are no references to support this claim. There is no reference to the discussion around the definition of non-linearity, and claims only structures with branching structures are truly non-linear. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.251.59.153 (talk) 09:41, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Linear and non-linear narrative structures (again)

[edit]

This section is full of advertising-like descriptions of software. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.172.25.34 (talk) 18:38, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Denouement => huh?

[edit]

The redirect for 'Denouement' to here is incongruous; especially since there isn't a target link to the topic. These two topics aren't equivalent; denouement is a subtopic, but being redirected without explanation leaves one lost on what denouement is - particularly when the article doesn't mention the term at all.

I think denouement refers more to the climatic turn/collation of the threads of the story, the bit when it all fits together but isn't quite resolved, the penultimate moment before the big "fight" (tension) is engaged and resolved. 103.133.98.122 (talk) 04:54, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is now fixed, at least for the present. Some loose ends were not resolved in the recent move of Narrative structure to Story structure. See Dénouement or Denouement.—Anita5192 (talk) 17:50, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

History Section

[edit]

I fixed the history section... but I left out things like Picareque and so on which I suppose should be noted in an other category or ignored...

I'd like to do history for other cultural areas, so I hope no one erases the European bit, because seriously, Europe is not the world and I'm still working through the research for East Asia, etc and other regions, so I hope to add those at a later date. Bollywood, BTW, is wild, literally since they use EVERYTHING and say so, which makes it much harder to pin down, but exceptionally difficult to write the section for because India has a TON of story structures they regularly use and borrow from and change around without reserve which makes it really difficult to write a history for. (and I might not be the best person to write that one)--KimYunmi (talk) 20:10, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
