[edit]Sandys was praised by many for his illustrations of the Middle East, see eg Henry Maundrell, from 1697, p. 67 praise for his plans of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and other places.
Alas, to me it looks as if Sandys greatly copied Jean Zuallart, (see fr:Jean Zuallart), so did Johannes Cotovicus:
