F-16 claims

[edit]

I keep removing from the article the claim that USAF F-16s shot down 4 Super Galebs in Bosnia, and others keep reinserting it. Planes that were shot down include J-21 Jastrebs and G-2 Galebs, but NOT the G-4 Super Galeb. Many news articles falsely claim that they were Super Galebs, because news reporters are not aviation experts. You can't believe everything you read. :) Edrigu 20:29, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. It's OK that the jets may not have been G-4 after all, but this leads two a couple of questions:

  • Do you know any reliable source to sustain your claim?
  • In the case the downed aircraft were not G-4, what kind of plane they were? (Personally, I guess they should be G-2s departing from Ubdina airport) Any other ideas about?

Thanks.

The downed aircraft were J-21 Jastrebs. Here is a detailed account: [1] Edrigu 20:05, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Originally 8 aircraft (6 Jastrebs, two Oraos), four Jastrebs down. This guys in the Pentagon never know what they shot at :). Thank You!.

Even this Croatian link (in Spanish), confirms they were Jastrebs.

I did not want to link this on the article, as I'm not sure about the copyright status, but it seemed worth mentioning here: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=42479 ; it's a reprint (scans) of an article from Aerosvet magazine with the title: "Trainers / Could Yugoslavia Win JPATS?". Hope this is of use to someone... 75.214.202.6 (really User:JesseW/not logged in) 07:33, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Montenegro

[edit]

The 17 Super Galebs left in Montenegro are not flown by the Montenegrin airforce. Therefore Montenegro should not be listed as an operator, because they do not operate them. Edrigu 23:05, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • One my friend from Montenegro told me that he has saw two Super Galebs in on sky, and they were wearing old "pepsi" roundels. He sad me also that they are used by one aeroclub. There in Montenegro are 17 G-4 but only 5 are in fly condition. Serbian Air Froce want to get them back, but Montenegro wants from Serbia to get something for G-4s. I'm starting a rewrite of the article, it lacks citations for most of its statements and I will be using them to support what I write. Please let me know about what info you are not happy with and we'll be able to sort it out.Brutaldeluxe (talk) 22:30, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
