[edit]"Rapture" was the first rap cut on MTV, according to "Pop-Up Video"... Trekphiler 07:05, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
This article needs to be much longer. fab five is an important figure in the genre.
I know nothing about the person or even the history of hip hop, but how is his name really spelled? Brathwaite? Braithwaite? Brathewaite? This is also relevant to the ice hockey goalie who may or may not have "the exact same name". Klehti 13:38, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes, he is one of many Hip Hop artists to cross over from professional hockey. "Fab Five" referring to his excellent play when his team was not penalty-killing. Also notable that he played in 4 All-star games with Lil' Wayne Gretzky and Darren "Salt and" Puppa — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.189.10.63 (talk) 04:09, 6 June 2012 (UTC) --
The first sentence describes him as a "hip hop historian" yet there is no mention in the body of the text. The link to the wikipedia hip hop history page does not mention any historical work by him. Has Fab 5 Freddy published any books, articles or developed any archive or museum materials? wsm 06:52, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
Google Doodle trivia item
[edit]The Google Doodle for the United States on August 11, 2017, was interactive, and had a tutorial. An animated Fab 5 Freddy was the teacher. Is this the first time a living person appeared in a Google Doodle? SlowJog (talk) 11:03, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
- I ask because Google has a policy of not making a living person the subject of a Doodle. But, in this case, Freddy appeared as a tutor, not the subject. SlowJog (talk) 11:47, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
I'm not a rapper
[edit]Would it be possible for someone to remove "rapper" from the first sentence of my entry? Even though the designation is sourced to an AllMusic bio, that bio primarily references one record I made more than 35 years ago (and which is not famous for my rapping). While I have worked in hip-hop throughout my career, rapping has never been a significant part of that career. Wikipedia's listing has caused frequent confusion with people who use the site as a research source. I'd remove it myself, but I'd prefer to work through proper channels and not violate your terms of service. Thanks for your help. FFFBrathwaite (talk) 22:05, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
- I think you are referred to as a rapper b/c of Yo! MTV Raps. I'll make the change. JSFarman (talk) 16:36, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
