This article seems ridiculously biased... Im just sayin'...
There are two different birth dates on the article page, one in the main text and one in the box, which is the correct one? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skippydoc (talk • contribs) 19:51, 27 October 2006
Fan Sites
[edit]Several editors posting under their ip addresses keep deleting the Fan Sites from this page. I have asked them to explain their reasoning on here but they have simply quoted me http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/WP:EL . I can see nothing on this site which says we can't have fansites. However the page does say "Before making major changes, please raise them on the discussion page to ensure consensus." which has not happened. Would the editors who have removed the links care to give their reasons below please? Kelpin 13:40, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

- Not sure what it said in 2007, but now Wikipedia:EL#Links normally to be avoided has #11 "Links to blogs, personal web pages and most fansites, except those written by a recognized authority." GoingBatty (talk) 17:52, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
The 1993 live album

The thirteen tracks on this CD include four Eagles songs and two Jimmy Buffett tracks ("Volcano" and "Margaritaville") which Henley performs with Buffett. Total CD length is 71.36.

Opinion, not fact
[edit]"He is known for his rusty, raw voice that is instantly reminiscent of Bryan Adams and Rod Stewart." I've heard him for 37 years, got everything he's ever done and not once - not once - have I ever heard him sound like Bryan Adams or Rod Stewart. If people disagree, let's hear it - if not, let's get rid of this. David T Tokyo (talk) 16:43, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Early Life additions
[edit]I already reverted the additions of Henley's roommates once - don't want to get into an edit war by doing it again. I don't see the value in adding non-notable roommates & bands to the article. What's consensus here? GoingBatty (talk) 20:21, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Automatic archiving of talk page
[edit]I see items on this talk page from several years ago. Any consensus to set up auto-archiving, such as MiszaBot? GoingBatty (talk) 20:28, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Removal of cited material
[edit]Epickirby (talk · contribs) has removed a referenced section from this article 8 different times today, with four different editors reverting their reverts. This is an attempt to get Epickirby to discuss this matter, and if they do not dicuss this here (and they revert again), they will be headed to WP:3RRNB. Doc talk 00:53, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- Instead of just reverting Epickirby's removal, I added more detail and more references. A quick Google search for
"Don Henley" cocaine arrest
will find many more references. GoingBatty (talk) 00:57, 19 October 2012 (UTC)- Also did the same on the 1980 in music article. GoingBatty (talk) 01:03, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- Good job. It's not a flattering thing, but it definitely happened and is better referenced than it was before. Doc talk 01:59, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks! Someone more eloquent than I could probably improve the wording. GoingBatty (talk) 02:14, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

...why do you people insist on including inaccurate information on this page?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.226.40.73 (talk) 06:48, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- It's not for you to decide whether it's accurate or not. That's why we reference things. The repeated removal of this sourced content will only ensure the page is protected from accounts like yours removing content from it. So... stop doing it. Doc talk 06:51, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- I'm going to remove the request for page protection since the anon/new accounts seem to have taken a break from removing the content. Also since that admin page is being ignored in the backlog. If the removal continues I will request page protection again, and perhaps it will be used. Meh. Doc talk 08:56, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- And since Bluefuschl (talk · contribs), for their first ever edit, has removed it again, hopefully this page will be protected for some time. Doc talk 14:35, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

.....where is the reference for Henley being engaged to Lois Chiles? where is the reference that Boys of Summer was dedicated to her? it's pure fiction. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.226.40.73 (talk) 16:48, 19 October 2012 (UTC) ....and everybody knows Henley dated Nicks in the 70's - not 80's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.226.40.73 (talk) 16:52, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- These are good points - thank you for bringing them up here. I've updated the Personal life section by removing "early 1980s" from the Nicks sentence, and requesting references for the Chiles engagement and song dedication. If we don't get references soon, I agree they should be removed. Thanks again! GoingBatty (talk) 17:20, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm not seeing anything about Chiles inspiring the song (or Henley dedicating it to her), them being engaged, or their relationship being especially "long-term". I'll work on it later, as I'm on an iPhone and can't edit properly at the moment. Doc talk 02:43, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
- Googling "Don Henley Lois Chiles" brings two articles from People Magazine to the forefront:
- (from 1983) "There was even more turmoil back at the Hotel California: a bittersweet three-year relationship with Eagles drummer/composer Don Henley. Though the romance is long over, Chiles still is rigorously vague about those days. "Sometimes you are just not right for each other. I don't judge or condemn people's life-styles," she hedges. "I think everything is great in moderation." Henley was busted in 1980—while two teenage girls were at his home—for possession of Quaaludes, cocaine and some pot. But Chiles, who had left him by then, says, "I was shocked to hear about it. He didn't have drugs around the house. It was an accident, I'm sure." (Henley's drug charges were dropped when he agreed to a two-year probationary diversion program, but he was fined $2,500 for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.) "[1]
- (from 1979) "A year ago Chiles met Don Henley, 32, the drummer with the Eagles, in her exercise class. "My image of musicians," remembers Lois, "was of groupies, tearing up airplanes and trashing hotels. That was the last thing I wanted to get involved with." But she did. She doesn't tour with the group ("Concerts are interesting the first few times"), though she and her dog, Ursula, guested at his Holmby Hills manse before finding their own cottage last month in Santa Monica. "I love him very much," she says, but has no plans for marriage or children."[2]
- So Chiles and Henley had a three-year relationship, and they had already broken up by the time of "the incident". I can find absolutely nothing about them being engaged, and certainly nothing about "Boys of Summer" and Chiles. Hmmm... Doc talk 05:39, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
- Nice job finding these articles amidst all of the replications of the Wikipedia article! GoingBatty (talk) 11:42, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'm about ready to correct the stuff on the Chiles relationship to get rid of the ugly "cn" tags, which really are not needed with the sources being found. There's no way they got engaged in 1982 when they broke up before the 1980 incident, and there's just nothing out there about the Boys of Summer connection. The IP was right about these things being fiction, I think. Doc talk 06:57, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
- Done - Doc talk 07:37, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
- Much better now - thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 00:50, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- No problem! But after doing some more research, of course there are now complications. While this website is probably not a reliable source, it quotes an October, 1997 interview with Stevie Nicks from Spin Magazine in which she says she dated Henley after breaking up with Buckingham, and then started dating Mick Fleetwood.[3] This directly contradicts what the Telegraph article states. I'll keep looking into it. Doc talk 05:12, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Eagles montage
[edit]I believe that the montage of the Eagles from their Long Road Out of Eden Tour should be featured on the article. It is featured on the article for the Eagles, the Eagles discography, Timothy B. Schmit, etc. If anybody wants to talk to me about this, please leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.54.187.27 (talk) 21:20, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
Guitar
[edit]The lede currently [4] doesn't list guitar as one of Henley's instruments, while the photo currently [5] in the infobox of the Eagles article clearly shows him playing guitar (with the drummer uncredited and out of the spotlights).
The infobox of the article lists guitar as one of his instruments, perhaps the lede should too? Andrewa (talk) 19:58, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
"16-year-old girl was found naked and claiming she had overdosed on Quaalude and cocaine. She was arrested for prostitution"
[edit]This entry in the article makes no sense whatsoever. On WHAT was the prostitution arrest based, exactly? Did the child recover, by the way, from the overdose, and how did her medical treatment progress? Nobody cared about her ultimate condition or fate, in writing this article? And what was the result of the police investigation of the illegal drugs being on the property and who purchased them? That is one wild entry in an encyclopedia!Starhistory22 (talk) 21:25, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
Other Legal Troubles
[edit]Arrested For Contributing To The Delinquency Of A Minor
[edit]on 21 November 1980, Don Henley was arrested after calling 911 to save a 16-year-old prostitute who has overdosed on cocaine and Quaaludes at his Los Angeles home.
The night before, Henley hosted a gathering of Eagles crew members and associates as a farewell, since the band was splitting up. He called a madam who arranged for the girl, who turned out to be 16 - Henley claims he did not know her age and did not have sex with her. When she shows signs of a seizure the next morning, Henley makes the call and medical personnel arrive to find her naked. Hours later, police arrive to arrest Henley, who pleads no contest to contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a misdemeanor that lands him a $2,000 fine and two years' probation.
Henley claims he took the fall for the roadies who supplied the drugs. "I took complete blame for everything," he tells GQ. "I was stupid; I could have flushed everything down the toilet. I didn't want this girl dying in my house." [1]
Claims of a coverup
[edit]There are claims going around social media that there was a coverup and that there are a lot more to the story. Another underage girl is said to have new proof, and with a big reveal supposedly coming in 2018. the origin of this goes back to the twitter user @3amart publishing this claims [2]

Place of birth
[edit]The infobox says Linden, the main body of the text says Gilmer. There very well may be evidence for both, but in that case surely it would be better to choose one location and add some wording about the uncertainty. Harfarhs (talk) 02:24, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
Drummer
[edit]The pictures of him performing shew him with a guitar, not a drum kit. Are there any pictures we could use where he's playing the drums? It seems an odd omission. DuncanHill (talk) 09:54, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
Not the actor
[edit]He is not to be confused with the actor who appeared on The Man From U.N.C.L.E. or in the film Cry Blood, Apache.Dogru144 (talk) 13:50, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
Wrong references, Wrong Don Henley
[edit]The musician Don Henley never married. None of the women mentioned had a close relationship to the musician Don Henley, who was always always working. The musician was Not the 4th wealthiest drummer. The musician was never romantically involved with Stevie Nicks, who never ever had an abortion. The song, "Sara" was about a woman who could never find happiness with any man, as Nicks explained when the song was published. Henley- Nicks relationship was and still is a platonic friendship. Some of the footnoted references aren't real or valid. Don Henley dot com is not authorized by the musician nor by his manager, nor is donhenleyonline, which is really delusional nonsense about someone else, not the musician Don Henley. Some of the details and the stories are not important to the musician, who has had countless successes, and he worked very hard. Those who are editing don't even know the musician Don Henley. Maybe they are adding details about some other person named Donald Henley but they are not about the musician. 2600:8805:C03:800:F97A:9399:6105:30A2 (talk) 22:17, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
