Democratic Republic of the Congo–Rwanda tensions (2022–present) → Democratic Republic of the Congo–Rwanda conflict (2022–present) – I think this is more accurate now that many news sources are reporting that Rwandan soldiers are helping M23 in DRC territory, including the UN. Romanov loyalist (talk) 22:23, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support I agree with this, it is clear that Rwanda and the DRC are directly engaged in clashes with each other, it definitely should be renamed to a "conflict" instead of just "tensions". Should the situation continue to escalate, labelling it a war should be on the table.

- Support With the M23 offensive, this is definitely a conflict. WC gudang inspirasi (Read! Talk!) 03:25, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support – I reject the arguments above but support the move. The definition of "conflict" is not limited to armed conflict. Yue🌙 05:26, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support Exchanging fire along the border means this has gone much further than just "tensions", this is clearly a conflict now. GWA88 (talk) 15:00, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support Makes it look like an understatement. Borgenland (talk) 05:13, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose Unpopular opinion here, IMO the situation has not deteriorated far enough. There were simply some border clashes, and this should wait. FatalistEuronet (talk) 06:07, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Roughly 5,000 Rwandan troops have been confirmed to be operating inside the Congo alongside M23 forces (information in sources I cited above). This would be the equivalent of calling the War in Donbass "Russia-Ukraine tensions (2014-present)". However since at the moment it doesn't appear to be a full scale invasion yet, "conflict" could be used as a suitable term. NonHydranary (talk) 18:13, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support: With the capture of a regional capital and confirmed presence of Rwandan troops, this conflict can hardly be considered "tensions" by now. Fantastic Mr. Fox 11:42, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support It's a literal military offensive at this point so it's right to rename it to a conflict. Rager7 (talk) 05:52, 1 February 2025 (UTC)

[edit]War has officially unofficially been declared. Here's a link (https://apnews.com/article/congo-m23-goma-rwanda-tshisekedi-south-africa-ca81f34f52ea31b85dd845b049a0bb96) to an AP article.
While I can plainly see that the above re-naming looks likely to pass, and I do agree with the sentiment of the name change, I do have some qualms about this conversation happening again in the future if this article is renamed as proposed by the name "Democratic Republic of the Congo–Rwanda conflict (2022–present)".
There are only currently two countries nominally involved, but taking the alleged Wagner affiliations added, this may very well turn into, or arguably already is, the Third Congo War. The President of the United States has already been advised of the situation, per the AP article. If the PoTUS is aware of the situation, it is probably more than a mere "conflict" as this point.
Currently the Third Congo War redirects to the Kivu Conflict. If there is not a consensus on whether this remains a conflict or has turned into a war, I'm more in favor of the name of the article being changed from Democratic Republic of the Congo–Rwanda conflict (2022–present) to Democratic Republic of the Congo - Rwanda Diplomatic Crisis (2022-present).
