Is this fort in the same area as Dauphin, Manitoba? I am working on Peter Fidler (explorer) who is said to have died at Dauphin Lake House in 1822. It would be interesting to connect these locations. --KenWalker | Talk 19:17, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes this is the same are. The town of Dauphin was named after Fort Dauphin which was established by sons of the trader-explorer Pierre La Verendrye. This is well described by Adam S. Little in his book "Dogtown to Dauphin", 1988, ISBN 0-920486-28-2. Dauphin is the tile of the heir to the French throne, i.e. the title of the eldest son. – — … ° ≈ ≠ ≤ ≥ ± − × ÷ ← → · § keithtb: Keithtb (talk) 00:55, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
