exactly what were high temperature crucibles made from, for example 1700º C used for crucible steel?
[edit]Nice article! A thousand years ago when crucible steel production was taking place in India, possibly elaborate a bit more on the materials used for the unusually high temperature (1,700 degree C) crucibles such as the high alumina clay, and a more precise location where it came from than Asia?
