Hello EndzoneEnthusiast, I just wanted to explain why I updated the timestamp even though Ndour has not played since his time at Benfica. I just feel that when you include a new club, you have to make sure all stats from before are accurate, and when you include a new club with "0 caps and 0 goals" this means that the stats were updated as of the time that new club was added. Having 0 caps and 0 goals for a new club is like a stat update. When I added Paris Saint-Germain to his infobox, I updated the timestamp to reflect that he had joined a new club. Note that the timestamp reads "club domestic league appearances and goals, correct as of [XYZ]". There is no reference to having to be the last time a match was played. In fact, I think its counterproductive to move the timestamp back in time in this case, because the more recent the better; some people might not know that he has not played a match since 19 May, and may thus waste time fact-checking this on Soccerway. Essentially, the later the timestamp the better IMHO. It shouldn't have to do with the last league game he played. However, I do not oppose your edit so much that I will revert it. I will leave it as is, but just know that for the future, this is my viewpoint. Also, to add on to that, if we had to only have dates going back to the last time a match was played for the player, then that would mean we would only be able to update stats on matchdays. However, after we update, we also use the 5 hyphens, which just take the current UTC time. Essentially, your edit was counterproductive but it's ok. Hello, I appreciate your thorough explanation on updating timestamps on player Wikipedia pages. However, I've observed that timestamps often reflect the last LEAGUE appearance on the players pages. Although your perspective is insightful, common practice seems to lean towards updates based on league play. Regardless, I don't intend to revert your edit, understanding that there's room for varying interpretations. Thank you. EndzoneEnthusiast04:53, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
