First flagship EOS R System model?

[edit]

The R1 was released in 2024. It is the latest in the R line -- not the first. Maybe "flagship" doesn't mean what I think it means?

The R1 is the first flagship in the sense, that e.g. the EOS 1D was the flagship. So flagship, from my point of view, equals to the "1" in the name. There had been rumors around 2021, that Canon will ship a new flag ship. But it seamed to be, that that camera was not "good" enough, so they introduced the R3, but didn't marked as flagship. Canon claimed also, that it has the "best" Eye Control AF, at least within the Canon System. This is also valid, for the sensitivity, but clear not for the resolution. So, at least from my point of view, the R1 ist the "first flagship" camera von Canon in the R System. But to be discussed. I would rate this only within the Canon world - not with other brand cameras. --GodeNehler (talk) 13:49, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
