GAN?

[edit]

@BePlus Thank you for expanding the article, glad to see another Ethel Cain fan here on Wikipedia.

Do you feel as if the article is of sufficient quality to be nominated for a Good Article? If it passes, I can get the following fact in the Wikipedia Did You Know section:

"... that Barack Obama listed an anti-war song as one of his favorite songs of 2022?"

Hello @HadesTTW, me too, I have done my best to improve or create articles related to Cain. I honestly don't know if it would apply since I never had the experience of nominating an article for it, so I couldn't answer that question. If you consider it to be of sufficient quality, do it! @Locust member:

  • EARWIG shows 27.0% - violations unlikely.
  • According to link-dispenser - all good.
  • References are looking good.
  • Specify language variant
    •  Done
  • Swift and Springsteen's image should be place adjacent to the third paragraph.
    •  Done
  • In the hatnote use, {{for|other uses}}.
    •  Done
  • There's a disambiguation link in the fourth note.
    • ?
  • Didn't the song chart anywhere? and didn't it receive any nominations?
    • Nope.
  • The second and third paragraphs of the lead should be merged and shortened to be summary of the article.
    •  Done, see below.
  • What happened to the Personnels section..
    • There is only information on the producer (Cain) and songwriters (Cain and Colyer). There would be no point for a personnel section when that information could be included in prose.
  • "Background and recording" and "Release" should be separate sections.
    •  Not done No point in having such a sort section. Typically, when there is not much to say about the release section, it can be added to Background.
  • "Release" section should come after "Music and lyrics" section.
    • See above.
  • "Critical response" section should be "Critical reception" section.
    • How come? The heading is "Reception", so its the critical response of the reception. Seen at articles such as Fetch the Bolt Cutters
  • Format the last part as following,
== References ==
=== Notes ===
{{notelist}}
=== Citations ===
{{reflist}}

    •  Done

  • Add alt text for the images.
    •  Done
  • Lead should be of three paragraphs,
    1. Basic information about the song.
    2. Summary of critical reception and commercial performance.
    3. Details about Music video and live performances.
    •  Done
  • "Release" section should be of -
    ""American Teenager" was released as the third and final single from the album on April 21, through her record label Daughters of Cain. It was released alongside a visualizer, which depicts Cain sitting on a picnic table, drinking cans of Budweiser, and appearing tired on a sunny day. Alongside the release of the single, she also announced the Freezer Bride Tour and revealed its North American dates for July 2022.[5]"
    • See above.
  • According to the infobox the song was written by 'Hayden Silas Anhedönia and Steven Mark Colyer', but the background section says otherwise.
  • The entire third paragraph of the "Music and lyrics" along with Swift and Springsteen's images should be moved to "Critical reception".
    • How come? This is talking about the actual composition / sound of the song itself, not critiquing the music.
  • Isn't there a newer image for Springsteen..
    •  Done
  • "Year-end lists" should be a separate sub-section in a table similar to this.
     Done You can change its placement if you would like. Locust member (talk) 16:05, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    @Locust member: Now that it's in the table, is it necessary to mention it again in the prose... Vestrian24Bio 12:00, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    I still have them mentioned in prose. Locust member (talk) 13:30, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    Sorry I misread your reply. I do think it is necessary, take a look at GA My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Locust member (talk) 15:06, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    In that case the paragraph should be placed before the table in the "Year-end rankings" section. Just like in My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Vestrian24Bio 10:09, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
     Done also, I changed it back to just "rankings" since it also includes mid-decade lists and other lists. Locust member (talk) 21:47, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Check author info on ref 15, 27, 38 and 42.
    •  Done; 38 was already good to go, though.
  • Following should be in the "Live performances" section.
    "The song was included on the pre-show playlist for Swift's the Eras Tour (2023–2024).[57] On January 19, 2024, American singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams covered "American Teenager" at the Sydney concert of her Good Riddance Tour.[58] The following month, Abrams recorded a cover version of the song for the Australian radio station Triple J. Following its release, Abrams showed admiration for Cain; she described the song as "amazing" and stated that she is a "fan of [Cain's] writing" and listens to Cain's music often.[59]"
    •  Not done - Inclusion in a playlist is not a performance, and a cover version from another artist doesn't seem like one either.
  • "Music video" and "Live performances" should be separate sections.
    • How come? Both are so short; both can be combined if there is not enough information for them each to have their own section.
  • No need for a ref on image caption.
    •  Done
  • What's a "a longer intro"?
    • The video contains an extended intro to the song; a longer intro.

@Locust member: that's all. Vestrian24Bio 09:47, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I addressed some critiques and left a comment on others. Locust member (talk) 03:34, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

All else good, passing for GA. Vestrian24Bio 02:54, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
