Decendent of Idris?

The only citation linked to this ancestry is in German, so I am reliant on web translation, but "Only the black ring on his finger recalls its origins. The white crescent and a star on a black background is the sign of his family, the Senussi, and part of the flag of his country. It is the family that the only king of the country has made, Idris I" does not seem to be an explicit claim of direct decendency. Idris was 44 when the subject of this article was born: realistically, he must therefore be either his father or grandfather, if this claim is correct: which is being claimed? I see no such claim. His grandfather was Ahmed Sharif as-Senussi and his mother Fatima el-Sharif, making Idris I his father. Unfortunately, not many sources exist on this fellow, but Italian sources also list him as a descendant, and some English ones that I cannot seem to recall right now; I will continue looking. かんぱい！ Scapler (talk) 06:32, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That seems to be begging the question. It would be very strange for the cited article to say no more than that he is "of the family" if he is the son of the King: it is very much an understatement. It would be incumbent on those making this claim to explain why, in the face of the existence of a son, it was Idris's nephew who was crown prince, and why all these sources consider Mohammed El Senussi to be heir to the throne. Scarcely an NPOV source, but the site that is perhaps more interested in and informed about the royal lineage of Libya than any other on the net, has a family tree with no issue for Idris.

It seems extraordinary that there are sources declaring him to be a descendant, but none willing to commit themselves as to whether he is the son or grandson. I suspect that mistranslation is an issue here. Kevin McE (talk) 08:53, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Upon looking at the family tree and then back through the source, it seems he is not a descendant but rather a great nephew of the king. Thank you so much for looking into this and following through on the correction.
