Srinidhi Ramesh Shetty (born 21 October 1992) is an Indian actress , model and beauty pageant title holder, who primarily works in Kannada and Telugu films. She is the winner of the Miss Supranational 2016 pageant.[1] She is the second Indian to have won this title.[2] Shetty made her acting debut with the Kannada action duology KGF (2018–2022), winning the SIIMA Award for Best Actress – Kannada for the sequel.[3]

Early life and education

Srinidhi Ramesh Shetty was born on 21 October 1992,[4] in a Mangalorean family of Tuluvas belonging to the Bunt.[5] Her father Ramesh Shetty is from the town of Mulki, and her mother Kushala is from Thalipady Guthu, Kinnigoli.[6]

She was educated at Sri Narayana Guru English Medium School, followed by a pre-university course at St. Aloysius Pre-University College. She received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Jain University, Bangalore, and graduated with distinction.[7]

Pageantry

In 2012, Shetty competed in the Clean & Clear sponsored Fresh Face contest, where she was among the top two finalists.[8] Later, she participated in Manappuram Miss South India in 2015 and won the titles of Miss Karnataka and Miss Beautiful Smile,[9] and later participated in Manappuram Miss Queen of India where she was crowned as the 1st runner up and also named Miss Congeniality.[10] She also worked as a model while employed at Accenture.[11]

In 2016, Shetty participated in the 2016 Miss Diva pageant, where she was selected as a finalist and won the Miss Supranational India 2016 title.[12][13] She also won three subtitles for her smile, body and her photogenic face. She went on to represent India at Miss Supranational 2016.[14] On 2 December 2016, she was crowned Miss Supranational 2016 by her predecessor Stephania Stegman of Paraguay in Municipal Sports and Recreation Center, Krynica-Zdrój, Poland. She also won the title of Miss Supranational Asia and Oceania 2016 in the pageant.[15] During her reign as Miss Supranational 2016, Shetty traveled to United Arab Emirates,[16] France,[17] Japan,[18] Singapore,[19] Thailand,[20] Slovakia and numerous trips around Poland and India.[21][22]

Acting career

Shetty made her acting debut with the 2018 Kannada period action film, KGF: Chapter 1 opposite Yash.[23] It was directed by Prashanth Neel. She portrayed a head strong girl, Reena Desai.[24] The film was a box office success, grossing 250 crore.[25] In 2022, she reprised her role of Reena in the film's sequel, KGF: Chapter 2.[26][27] With earnings of ₹1,200–1,250 crore globally, it is the second highest grossing Indian film of 2022 and fourth highest-grossing Indian film.[28][29] The same year, she made her Tamil debut with action thriller film Cobra alongside Vikram.[30] The film was a box-office bomb collecting ₹59 crore.[31] Shetty portrayed Bhavana Menon, a criminology professor.[32]

Shetty was named the Bangalore Times Most Desirable Women in 2016.[33] In the same list, she was placed 4th in 2018 and 2019, and 5th in 2020.[34][35][36] She is one of the most followed Kannada actress on Instagram.[37]
