  • curprev 03:2603:26, 9 April 2023 PrimalMustelid talk contribs 63,181 bytes +21 While I couldn't find specific extinction causes of Paraceratherium, it definitely did not go extinct from the Proboscidean datum event considering that event occurred 19-18 Ma (or "MM3" (Mammal Neogene Zone)), long after its extinction, and Prodeinotherium was the first to do so, not Gomphotherium. In fact, according to "An Oligocene giant rhino provides insights into Paraceratherium evolution," the Paraceratheriidae was extinct by the Oligocene-Miocene transition. undo

It's within the Rhinocerotoidea superfamily, so it would be more appropriate to call them "paraceratheres" or "rhinocerotoids," especially since it's different from true rhinos like Trigonias of the Eocene. undo
