Olivia Lynn Reeves (born April 19, 2003)[1] is an American weightlifter. She won the gold medal in the women's 71 kg event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. In 2023, she won the bronze medal in her event at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.[2] She won the gold medal in the women's 81 kg event at the 2023 Pan American Games held in Santiago, Chile.[3]

Career

She won the gold medal in the women's 71 kg event at the 2021 Junior World Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.[4][5] She also won the gold medal in the women's 76 kg event at the 2021 Junior Pan American Games held in Cali and Valle, Colombia. Reeves won the silver medal in the Snatch event in the women's 71 kg event at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.[6]

Reeves won the bronze medal in the women's 71 kg Clean & Jerk event at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships held in Bogotá, Colombia.[1][7]

In 2023, she won the bronze medal in her event at the Pan American Weightlifting Championships held in Bariloche, Argentina.[8] Reeves also won bronze in the Snatch and gold in the Clean & Jerk. In the same year, she won the bronze medal in the women's 71 kg event at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.[2][9] She also set new junior world records in the Clean & Jerk and Total.[2]

In October 2023, Reeves won the gold medal in the women's 81 kg event at the Pan American Games held in Santiago, Chile.[3][10] She set new junior Americas records in the Snatch, Clean & Jerk and Total.[11] Her best lifts were 114 kg in the Snatch and 144 kg in the Clean & Jerk and a result of 258 kg in Total.[11][12] At the 2024 IWF World Cup, she won the gold medal in the Snatch (118kg), Clean & Jerk (150kg) and Total (268kg) in the women's 71kg event.

Reeves won gold in the 71 kg category at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. It was the United States' first gold medal in weightlifting since 2000.[13][14][15][16]
