The sources provided state that it denotes people who are "non-Japanese" by citizenship and or ethnicity, including mentions of "brown" and other "yellow" people. A 1990 source provided is from David Suzuki, a Canadian of Japanese descent who mentions that he has still been called a "gaijin". undo
