View westward, towards Mirfield, Sowerby Bridge and Manchester, or Wakefield Westgate, Leeds and Bradford; ex-Lancashire & Yorkshire Calder Valley main line from Manchester also from Barnsley, eastwards to Normanton also to Goole via Pontefract; the station was also used by some ex-Great Northern trains between Doncaster and Leeds/Bradford. The locomotive is an LMS Fairburn class 4MT 2-6-4T.
