Summary

Description
English: Stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1 bound to its substrate, Stearoyl–coA (black). The substrate is held in a kinked conformation by the binding pocket which determines which bond is desaturated by the catalytic centre. The enzyme is embedded in the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum by four transmembrane helices. (PDB: 4ZYO)
