Summary

Description
English: St. Andrew's Church of England, South Brisbane, 1947 St. Andrew's is a large, gothic-style limestone church with particularly fine stained glass windows. It was constructed in several stages: 1878-83, 1887, and 1931-32. The church was designed by Italian architect Andrea Stombuco. Work commenced in 1878 but was abandoned when the walls reached only 6 feet as the design proved beyond the financial means of the parish. Work did not resume until 1882 and in the following year the chancel, transepts and the first bay of the nave were completed by the builder James O'Keeffe.
