Description

SS Finland (American Passenger Steamship, 1902)

Underway in a U.S. harbor, prior to World War I. After service as an Army-chartered transport in 1917, this ship was acquired by the Navy on 24 April 1918 and placed in commission as USS Finland two days later. She was decommissioned and returned to the Army on 15 November 1919. At some point during or shortly after her Navy service she was assigned the registry ID # 4543.
