English: Premakumar Gunaratnam, a militant member of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, which was suppressed by state forces during the 1989 insurrection. Having engaged in political and armed activities in the eastern Sri Lanka during the 1989 insurrection he was apprehended by the army and later released with others who were spared after torture. Gunaratnam is known for his leading role in re-organization the party in early 90s and his role as an organizer, to revive the fishing industry aftermath of 2004 Tsunami, assigned to the ministry of fisheries which was run by a JVP minister then. Despite being appointed as a political bureau member of the JVP, along with a group of other dissident cadres, created the Front Line Socialist Party, Sri Lanka in 2012.
