DescriptionNewport High Street station geograph-2516537-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg
English: Up freight train passing through Newport High Street station.
View SW, towards Cardiff etc. and the Western Valleys; ex-GWR South Wales main line. Fifty years ago and earlier, trains like this were passing through Newport constantly. This Class F train is headed by an original Churchward '2800' 2-8-0 (No. 2818, built 12/05), about 50 years older than the 2-10-0 depicted in ST3088 : Up freight train at Newport High Street Station on the same day. This particular example of a '2800' is preserved at the National Railway Museum.
