Purpose of use |
Quiver is one of Ian Scott's most famous works, and is a historically significant work that could not be conveyed in words. It is held in the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki and has been frequently reproduced in publications and commentary. As such this image of Quiver is used for purposes of information, education and analysis only, in a section of the article concerning the "The Roller-stroke & Sprayed Stripe Paintings, 1971-73" works, the (latter) series of which this painting is part. Any discussion of Ian Scott would not be complete without referring to this work, therefor its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it shows the subject, or the work of the subject, of the article. |
Replaceable? |
As a work of art still protected by copyright, the image is not replaceable by free content; any other image that shows this work of art would also be copyrighted as a derivative work of the original and any version that is not true to the original would be inadequate for identification or commentary. The image is a low resolution copy of the original work and would be unlikely to impact sales of prints or be usable as a desktop backdrop. |
