Summary
| Description |
English: Colonization events of species from the genus Cyanea (green) and species from the genus Drosophila (blue) on the Hawaiian island chain. Islands age from left to right, (Kauai being the oldest and Hawaii being the youngest). Species peripatrically speciate as they colonize new islands along the chain spatiotemporally. Lighter blue and green indicate colonization in the reverse direction from young-to-old. Numbers along the lines indicate the number of colonization events while the colored numbers below the island names indicate the number of species in each group that inhabits the islands. Text color corresponds to each genus. Adapted from Coyne and Orr (2004).[1] |
