English: Cape mole-rat or Georychus capensis, photographed by Tony Rebelo, on 10 February 2013, at Ladiesmile Road, Bergvliet,Greater Capetown, Western Cape province of South Africa
According to photographer, Tony Rebelo, the animal was aggressive, making little forward lurches accompanied by sniffle-grunts with teeth flaring and gnashing. When it retreated it chewed a tunnel with its teeth, the feet pushing the sand backwards. It took 57 seconds from the start until it had completely disappeared underground.
