DescriptionFalkland Memorial - geograph.org.uk - 1181179.jpg
English: Falkland Memorial. This is the monument to Viscount Falkland, one of the royalist commanders at the 1st battle of Newbury. The inscription on the stone can be seen here 1181177 and the opposite view can be seen here 1181172. I checked carefully with the GPS which square this is in. I am standing four metres in from the north-east corner of the square looking south-west, with my back to the roundabout junction of the Andover Road with Essex Street, so I am confident this is the correct square.
