Description
English: Fūjin by anonymous sculptor. Painted wood, H. 112 cm. Mid-13th century. Sanjūsangen-dō temple. Kyoto (National Treasure). The gods of wind (Fujin) and thunder (Raijin) loom atop a summit of clouds. The wooden statues are arranged at either end of the hall's long central platform. Fujin carries the winds in a bag across his shoulders. Raijin is surrounded by a circle of drums which he is beating with pestles held in either hand.

Les statues en bois sont disposées à chaque extrémité de la longue plate-forme centrale de la salle. Les dieux du Vent (Fujin) et du Tonnerre (Raijin) se dressent au sommet des nuages. Fujin porte les vents dans un sac sur ses épaules. Raijin est entouré d'un cercle de tambours qu'il bat avec un pilon dans chaque main.
