| Description |
English: Dhopkols are with us for 120 years. It is an unique thing found only in Rajshahi. On 14 August, 1937 with the help of the donation of Maharani of Puthia Rani Hemanata Kumary Rajshahi Municipality established a water treatment plant for supplying pure water all over the city. The establishment was named Maharani Hemanata Kumary Water Works. Pipelines were installed and at most of the places concrete cylindrical water tanks were built so that water might be stored for common people for all hours. These water tanks came to known as Dhopkols.
বাংলা: ১২০ বছর এর ঐতিহ্য রাজশাহীর ঢোপকল। মহারাণী হেমন্ত কুমারীর প্রচেষ্টা ও অনুদানে ১৯৩৭ খ্রীষ্টাব্দে রাজশাহীবাসীর জন্য সার্বক্ষণিক বিশুদ্ধ পানির সরবরাহ নিশ্চিত করতে পানি সরবরাহ প্রকল্প ‘মহারাণী হেমন্ত কুমারী ওয়াটার ওয়ার্কস’ নির্মিত হয়। ঢোপকল গুলো লম্বায় প্রায় ভুমি থেকে ১২ ফিট উঁচু এবং ব্যাস প্রায় ৪ ফিট। তৈরী করা হয়েছিল সিমেন্টের ঢালই করে। এই ঢোপকলের উপর থেকে নিচ পর্যন্ত ঢেউ খেলানো একটা প্লাষ্টার করা হতো। যে নকশাটা করা হতো টিনের সাহায্যে। |
