Description
English: The Pioneer Mountains are located just north of southern Idaho's Snake River Plain. In the foreground of the photo are dark-colored cinder cone volcanoes and lava flows in Craters of the Moon National Monument. The far background is the Pioneer Mountains. The high peak at top-center is Blizzard Mountain, which consists of structurally deformed Mississippian sedimentary rocks - carbonates and siliciclastics.
